Ingredients

Directions

Preheat the oven to 300 degrees F. Prepare a baking sheet by spraying it with canola spray.

In a large saute pan over medium-low heat, add the butter, pecans and peanuts. Saute until the nuts become fragrant, about 5 minutes. Add the caramel sauce and vanilla extract and continue to cook on low until the caramel begins to thicken, an additional 5 minutes. Next, add the popcorn and stir to coat completely with the caramel sauce.

Remove the popcorn from the heat and spread it into 1 even layer on the prepared sheet. Place the sheet in the oven and cook for 20 minutes. Remove from the oven, sprinkle with the sea salt and let cool. Break up the popcorn with a spoon and serve family style in a large bowl.

I read all the reviews and made some adjustments before I made my crunchy Caramel Popcorn. I don't like butter ( I know, I'm picky so I left it out. Also, instead of the 2 cups of caramel I used 1 cup and used chopped almonds instead of peanuts. After those changes, I followed the recipe stated and after cooking for 20 minutes I let the caramel popcorn cool for 5 to 7 minutes. It was Delicious!!! Thanks Aaron, this one is a keeper!!!!

I totally agree with sammykat5. I tried this, but used 2 bags of popcorn & was a oooey gooey mess. When Aaron made it it was nice & crunchy & I couldn't wait to make it. Once I pour the hot caramel sauce over popcorn, the popcorn deflated. Sorry Aaron...I still love you!

Before I make a receipe I generally read the reviews. There was only one review out here at the time. The review said the popcorn was sticky. Well, I made the popcorn today using almonds instead of peanuts. I thought this receipe was good, but it was sticky. I thought maybe the person should have used more popcorn to counter the stickiness. So as I cooked the sauce and looked at the one bag of popcorn, I knew I had more sauce then popcorn. I used two bags of popcorn and the popcorn still was sticky. It has great favor, but would be better if it wasn't as sticky.
