the basic recipe is good. i did make a few changes, as we all do. i used a splash of rice vinegar. had to use cubanelle peppers and savoy cabbage because it was fresh at the market. also added some celery. i also grilled a pork tenderloin with mesquite chips for the soup. very happy with my results!

OMG...... This is the best soup I have ever had. I have made this about 6 times this year, it gets better every time I make it. Just don`t change a thing.

I thought this soup was missing something. The flavor was not very deep or complex in my opinion. A bone-in cut of pork that poaches in the both would perhaps help. Maybe some lemongrass? I don know--I was underwhelmed.

This soup was awesome I have been waiting on a recipe for this soup for awhile now. BUT I did make it "my own". I made it alittle more spicy and I use chicken quarters instead of pork. It was very easy to make and the only thing that took time was the chopping. Thanks Big Daddy!!! Just like you said on the show this soup was great, yes it was...

YUUMY! So good and satisfying! It even provoked my stubborn boyfriend to try chopsticks! (He switched to a fork and spoon by the way! I used leftover rotisserie chicken breasts and added just a little extra tamari and chile paste to my bowl for even more intense flavor. A keeper!

Delicious! I used left-over grilled pork loin chops sliced in thin strips in place of the pork shoulder. Amazing flavor!

Liked the soup, minus the pork. The pork shoulder came out really dried out and fatty and didn't shred well so we ended up just tossing it, opting to go vegetarian. The soup was really tasty. We modified a bit, using half the amounts of onion and cabbage and probably a little more ginger.
