LOVED the sauce...used it on NY Strip steak instead. Added extra tablespoon of flour and a lot more bourbon (1/2 cup to taste. Paired VERY nicely with the Braised Kale with Toasted Almonds.

The recipe for the Bourbon Mushroom Sauce is missing the instructions after forming the pasty roux. The sauce seems to be a real winer and I would like to prepare it following the instructions to the letter.
Please publish the complete recipe. Many people will thank you for it.

Made this over the weekend - turned out great. I appreciate the comments on extending the cook time so I adjusted the time to make sure the meat was done. Gravy came out great - the mushrooms added a nice touch with the bourbon. Would highly recommend this recipe for a perfect roast!

I've never made a roast before and this turned out GREAT!! It did require more cooking time than the recipe (I used an almost 4 lb New York Strip roast. I also added just a bit of half-and-half to the gravy (mostly because it wasn't thickening well enough and I had a little warmed cream that I mixed with some cornstarch. Everyone loved both the meat and the gravy. Will make this again!!

I have tried many recipes and almost always they require some tweeking. I was worried when I saw that he just used salt and pepper for the roast thinking it would be too bland. OMG!! This dish was the best roast beef ever. The gravy was to die for. Now if I don't want to make just the roast beef I use the gravy for meatloaf, and other beef recipes. The only thing I would say is that you HAVE to add the roast beef juice to the gravy. If not you will definitely tast the flour from the gravy. I love Big Daddy's show. It is delightful to watch and he makes me laugh. Keep up the good work.

I really love how simple and elegant the dish is! This is a no brainer and the sauce is absolutely fabulous. I will definitely add this to my "go to" menus if I am stuck for a tasty and easy dinner idea. I did add shallots to the sauce -shallots always add an extra "oomph."
