Ingredients

  • 3 boneless skinless chicken breasts
  • 1/4 cup shredded daikon radish
  • 2 carrots, shredded
  • 1/4 cup bean sprouts
  • 3 stalks (1/2 cup) scallions
  • 1/4 cup Szechuan sauce
  • 1 tablespoon Chinese five-spice powder
  • 1/4 teaspoon cayenne
  • 1/2 teaspoon sea salt
  • 1/4 teaspoon freshly ground black pepper
  • 2 tablespoons grapeseed oil, for frying
  • 2 tablespoons butter
  • 1 lemon, juiced
  • 1 head Bibb lettuce leaves

Directions

Split boneless chicken in half. If too thick, pound out to make thinner.

In a medium bowl, mix together radish, carrots, bean sprouts, and scallions. Add Szechuan sauce.

In a small bowl, mix together five-spice, cayenne, salt and pepper. Season chicken breasts lightly with rub. Cut the chicken into strips.

In a large skillet over high heat, add the grapeseed oil. Once hot, sear the chicken breasts for 4 minutes on each side. Add butter and lemon to pan and baste the chicken for another minute. Remove chicken to a platter to let cool. Once cooled, dice or shred the chicken.

Place a spoonful of the vegetable mixture and the shredded chicken onto each leaf of lettuce. Roll and serve.

    Oh Big Daddy

Thank you for a great recipe. For those complaining about messy eating. Yes, it would take some getting used to holding and... consuming, but hey, haven't you ever eaten a soft taco before? Quitcher whinin'. It's all worth it. The only thing is that daddy didn't recommend or explain the Szechuan sauce. I made some after doing some research. Thanks, Aaron!!Read more

    Messy disappointment

Rated: 2 stars out of 5
Saw this on and earlier episode and was looking for an easy user friendly recipe. It tasted OK, but found people struggling... to not make a total mess of themselves trying to eat it. Read more

    Excellent!

My husband made this and although I wasn't completely sold beforehand, they were great...relatively healthy and easy. We... both really like spicy things (especially my husband), but we thought the szechuan sauce was a bit spicy...maybe next time we'll cut in half and mix with peanut sauce. We'll definitely make these again.Read more

This was a dish I USED to go to one of the chain restaurants to purchase. But, not now. I made this recipe and it came out... better than what I've had in the past. Thanks!! .LRead more

    Fantastic Chicken Wrap

Aaron - I 've been a fan since I first saw on on Next Food Network Star! I've tried several of your recipes and they never... let me down. My husband cooked this recipe for me, and to be honest I wasn't expecting much....was I ever wrong. They were excellent. Better than the Vietnamese wraps I make. My husband used coleslaw mix instead of the daikon radish and it turned out great. Next time we may cut back a bit on the heat. It was so good that when we ran out of lettuce - I ate the filling out of the bowl. Keep up the great work Aaron. Food Network--Aaron is the best!!!Read more

What can I say but, fabulous!!!

Rated: 5 stars out of 5
My husband and I have became immediate fans of this dish. We have made the dish several times and everyone who has had it... raves about the dish. We have made our own modifications to the dish by grilling the chicken and adding fresh cilantro as well as diced water chestnuts. We also use the butter lettuce which provides a very fresh, crispness to the dish. We go easy on the schzwan sauce to keep it healthy. I love the fact that this a diet conscious dish!!! Can't wait to try some of your other dishes!!!Read more
