This sandwich is a new family holiday tradition! This is by far the best turkey sandwich I've ever had! That being said, this year was my 2nd time making them. Last year, I made them according to the recipe. I did not have much success with frying my shallots, & it was a mess. This year, I just used French's fried onions, instead. Also this year, I left the cilantro out of the mayo, because my brother doesn't like cilantro. And although I myself am not really a "cilantro person," I feel it's a key ingredient in this recipe. I made one sandwich with no cilantro, & one with it, to compare. While I couldn't tell I was eating cilantro, I thought it made the sandwich so much better than without. Also, I found it a lot less messy to build the sandwich on bread I'd already toasted, then broiled the cheese over the bacon & turkey. All in all, in my opinion, this is a MUST MAKE!

Delicious! It had so many layers of flavor and textures. I did not use shallots. I caramelized some onions then added some leftover cranberry sauce to them. It was great!

The mayo sauce is excellent! I thought it would be too spicy and used less Chipotles, but later on added some more : One other ingredient I modified was bacon - I just cooked it on my iron skillet. Overall it was very good!
