I knew the minute that I saw Aaron prepare this rice that I had to try it. It was packed with flavor and easy to make. My boyfriend loved it and commented that this is the way that he was accustomed to having rice as a child.

    Another winner from Big Daddy!

Every Chef on their individual Food Network Shows eat what he/she is cooking all the time. Giada, Paula, Bobby, Aaron, Ina, just to name a few are eating, tasting, stuffing their faces with their food all the time. The Neely's generally end their show with them eating, what's the fuss about, and what's disgusting about it? I've never explored the review forum before and stumbled across this discussion and felt compelled to ad my "two scents" worth. On chopped and challenge. contestants are scolded for not tasting their food. And their is no need to be rude in our community.

Josie, why the name calliing? I actually do understand what Susan is saying, but it is not necessary to call people names if their opinion differs from yours. Personally, Big Daddy is my favorite show and I have made several of his recipes and they all rock, but I do understand what she is saying about the eating and don't get all upset about it. Have a great day!

    This rice dish is delicious!
Note to Susan: This is a COOKING show, if you don't want to see the host eat then don't watch it, you are a rude idiot. Aaron ROCKS

I made this recipe the same day I saw the episode and it's fantastic. I thing I like about it is that youcan use different ingredients. I charred the scallions but also had some leftover asparagus and yellow squash -- I grilled those as well and tossed it in... I also had a handful of shrimp left so I tossed those in some butter and gave them a rough chop... then tossed those in as well. The dish came out great! I make jasmine rice all the time but toasting the rice really brought out a different flavor. Great recipe.

Hi, I felt compelled to make a comment re Susan's review. The internet may provide the comfort of relative anonymity.. but could we please all mind our manners, yaknow.. the way our moms taught us? Even if it's "just online?" I was a little shocked- what an incredibly rude comment to make to another person. Would you say this to the gentleman's face, I wonder?

Beyond that.. what is 'disgusting' about watching a person eat food? Eating food is often done in public, in restaurants for instance. Or should we all hide ourselves while we eat? I don't get it- the problem with watching this chef eat his much-anticipated meal. The guy is cute, very passionate about food, and ate it with gusto. Rather than finding it disgusting.. it made me want to run into my kitchen and make the dish!!

Irene - regarding the bean sprouts, he didn't do anything special with them. He just took them out of the container at the end and stirred them in.

It isn't clear in this recipe how to prepare the bean sprouts. I caught the tail end of this episode so I am not clear on all the prep instructions. The recipe needs to be more clear.
