This is a nice change for a slaw. I think the chives & red pepper flakes add a great unexpected flavor. May use a bit more chives the next time. I'm already thinking of ways to change this around for variety...maybe toasted pecan pieces and Granny Smith apple chunked up. This slaw lends itself to additions. Thanks for great recipe & a great show.

Big Daddy, for years I have been wanting to make a carrot slaw. But when I saw you making this salad on television, I was convinced, I could do it at home. When I watch your show, I have to wait to see what's in the ingredients. Most cook shows recipes are predictable. I never thought to put chives in a carrot slaw. When I watch your program, I am glued to the television. I just want to see what your doing. Your style of cooking is unique. Your combination of southern and other styles is amazing. Keep up the good work. Maybe, one day I could be on your show to sample your food. Karen Honora - Baton Rouge, Louisiana

This is really good carrot salad. I only used 1/2 the amount of red pepper flakes, but that was just right for us. Gives you a hint of heat and leaves people wondering what they're tasting. I'll make this over and over. Super easy!

Most carrot slaw recipes are bland, but this recipe is absolutely wonderful. The pineapple and red pepper flakes give this recipe a terrific combination of sweet and spicy. A+.

    Hello Aaron,

I want to start by congratulating you on winning the food network star. I was routing for you the whole time. This was a very good recipe with an awesome twist. I would also like to give you a little advice. I watched all of your recent episodes and I found a lot of them to be very unhealthy as far as the amount of butter, cheese and frying was concerned. I would love to see you cook more health conscious recipes and try to leave your hands out of the picture........it's not a good look.
