This was the first time I've done fried chicken. The recipe was great but I will say the Paprika adds a weird taste to it. Next time I will substitute the Paprika for something else. I don't know yet because I'm a brand new cook. I appreciated the video tutorial and loved the method.

This is the first time I've ever made fried chicken in my life, other that oven fried. I have always worried about chicken cooking through. The directions were spot on, and my chicken was done but not over done. I did have to wonder though what "until golden brown" meant. I just poked mine with a fork after a while to see if blood came out. I also turned it often. As the recipe had no measure of oil for the pan, I had to wonder how much to use. The video comes in handy for that, and also to show when the oil is hot enough. Unfortunately I read some of the other reviews that said this was bland, and over salted. Next time I will stick with the program. Because I'm gluten intolerant, I used rice flour. It worked GREAT! I gave it five stars because I think it is an awesome basic recipe that one can play with, AND after 40 years of cooking, I finally made fried chicken!!!!

My chicken had been season for a few days, however the fried chicken mixed- added a great kick to my chicken. My children loved it. My daughter said it taste close to my moms. She makes amazing fried chicken. Aaron... it must be a CMD thing... Your recipe was great. I needed a great side to go with it though.

I just watched the video of Aaron making this and based on what he said, this recipe is wrong regarding the seasoning. I wrote down specifically what he said and I can also say that what I made was fantastic. I did add about 2 tsp of dried thyme.
Recipe: Fill cast iron skillet halfway with canola oil. Mix together 1/4 c of seasoned salt, 1/4 c smoked paprika, 3 Tbsp each granulated garlic and onion powder, 1 tsp cayenne pepper and 1 Tbsp of black pepper. This is tastier than what is on the site. Seasoned salt is tastier than kosher salt and smoked paprika is more flavorful than sweet paprika. The 4 c of flour was correct and this is how it should be. Check the video and see for yourself. You can deep fry this as well at 350-375.

My husband and I absolutely love this recipe. It's the best fried chicken I've ever had! I ask my hubby to make this often as it's just that good! Pairs well with sour cream & chive mashed potatoes and sweet corn!

I'm not good at frying chicken but having the foil over the pan cooked really. I will be using the spices again but next time, I will let the chicken sit much longer.

I have been looking for a great and easy fried chicken recipe for a while now unfortunately this ain't it. The chicken cooked quite well based on the recipe but as for the taste aspect I found it BLAND. I don't know if the chicken should have marinaded in seasonings for a while first or what but I was so dissapointed in the way this tasted. Another thing I have been told by Southern cooks is using Self Rising Flour makes a world of difference in exterior flavor but then you still have bland chicken on the inside with this recipe. If anyone can recommend a more flavorful and simple fried chicken recipe, please do, Thanks
