I rooted for Aarti to win as Food Network does not have any time of Indian food represented and I make it at least twice a week. I have been a bit disappointed in how she has "Americanized" her food so far. I want authentic recipes!! Hot dogs? Ugh, that's just gross. I make my Garam Masala from scratch, my own Roti and shop at my local Indian market at least once a week. I was hoping for more from her.
Please, give her the opportunity to shine with true Indian cooking. It will be fabulous and she will do well! In the meantime, I watch "Spice Goddess" and "Indian food made easy" on the Cooking Channel.
Hang in there Aarti, I am still rooting for you!

I thought I'd give this a try, and it was horrible. I thought that maybe I did something wrong, so I threw out the whole bloody mess and tried again -- with precisely the same result. I wasted a LOT of money on specialty ingredients, too, so I'm pretty upset.

I've really tried to give this Aarti a chance, but almost every one of her recipes I've tried have been truly awful. I don't have any trouble at all with any of the other recipes on this site from any other chef, so I'm forced to the conclusion that it's Aarti's problem and not mine. I've given her the benefit of the doubt since she won the contest, but I give up. I'm going back to using recipes from Giada, Anne Burrell, Emeril, Bobby Flay, Mario Batali, Melissa D'Arabian, Sandra Lee, etc. So many people are raving about her food, but I can't understand why -- do they even actually cook it before reviewing it?. My family and I just don't like her style. Sorry, Aarti. Oh, and I wish you'd change the name of your show -- it sounds like an infomercial for a new toilet-training product. Not appetising at all.

The samosas were a delicious meal! The potato was the best part of the filling. I think any meat would go great with it.

I tried Aarti's pastry recipe (except for the ajwain seeds which I need to hunt for and it came out very nice and tasty. It is quite hot here in Louisiana and the dough got too soft while I was stuffing them, so they came out in funny shapes, but still tasted great. I had tons of filling left over, so I need to double or triple the pastry recipe next time.

For the filling, I used a can of chipotles in adobo sauce I had in the pantry, and even though I used just the sauce (minus the chiles, our samosas were VERY, VERY spicy! I don't remember what her chipotle sauce looked like in the show - perhaps there is a chipotle option in the store that is milder - I will have to look.

I opted to not make the mint chutney, thinking my family wouldn't eat it, but they requested it for next time since the samosas definitely needed a cool balance. Sour cream kind of worked in a pinch, but mint would have been much better.

    Aarti....
First of all Congrats for the win! I always supported you from the beginning of the challenge..... and u did it!

..........using puff pastry sheet is a great trick, i am defintely going to try, and for all those who feel that i m rating Aarti's samosa as 4 star, without even trying, I would like to tell them that I m an Indian who love to cook authentic indian vegetarian and have been making samosas for years now, from scratch and as i read through this recipe I could visualize how its going to turn out! My only concern is that Puff pastry sheet is loaded with calories and trans fat compared to the traditional samosa shell. but will have to try it out nevertheless, as i can't resist the idea of the crispy crunchy layers of pastry, with all that yummy filling, filling my mouth. Thanks Aarti for the idea!

I really liked the yummy filling and the mint chutney. I think next time I will definitely opt to make the homemade dough...the store bought puff pastry is just way too decadent. With the puff pasty application, I thought the extra tsp of water just made things too sticky. Fun recipe and delicious!

I just made these for friends, as part of a Middle Eastern-central Asian brunch and WOW they are good!! I normally don't post reviews, but this dish surpassed my expectations. I substituted phyllo pastry dough with awesome results... my Turkish friend said they reminded her of "borek" which are stuffed savory Turkish pastries. Will definitely make again!!

My family has been making meat pastries for a long time but I wanted to give the samosa a try. I changed it up a bit to use what I had on hand and ended up with beef/lamb samosas. I used cardamom and coriander though with great results. I appreciate Aarti for expanding my horizons and giving me an excuse to step out of the box.

I know that I'm sounding a bit like a hypocrite right now but please please please actually make the recipe before you make it because as fun and fresh as Aaarti is, that doesn't always mean great recipes. So, if you're like me and you look at the ratings and review what people say, seeing a recipe has five stars but only one person has actually made it isn't helpful at all

I Love the new Aarti show, so fun, so fresh. She has been my favorite in all along in the Next Food Network lineup. These are recipes that I am excited to cook with, and I cannot wait to try this Samosa recipe. I will try it perhaps with more of a piecrust dough.
    Congrats and keep cookin Aarti

The other day while surfing the TV channels came upon your cooking show and it stopped me in my tracks. What a breath of fresh air you are. After cooking for many decades I have been looking for something fresh and new. I have all the ingredients for the Samosas and they are going to be baked this week. Best wishes in your career. Thanks for all the wonderful recipes now and to come.
