I have to agree with another review in that this recipe just seemed to lack something. I can't put my finger on it, but I found it bland. I doubled the garam masala and that still didn't help. It lacked the richness that I'm used to.

Loved the heat from the chilis and the texture of the sauce... although there is something lacking in this recipe, missing some of the creamy-heartiness of a well-made authentic Tikka.

Amazing! Very easy to make and very flavorful and delicious. I used chicken breasts instead of thighs and I doubled the amount of garam masala. It was wondeful! I will be adding this to our permanent recipes. Thanks for taking the intimidation out of Indian cooking, Aarti!

This recipe is delicious! I used a large can of crushed tomatoes instead of fresh romas, and eliminated using the blender. Much quicker, easier, less clean up, and it turned out just fine.

This recipe was so delicious! I used chicken breast, canned diced tomatoes and a spice set for Tikki Masala. My local supermarket didn't have garam masala nor the ingredients to make my own. The spice set however did include paprika, cumin, red pepper flakes, garam masala, and minced garlic. I used ground ginger and garlic powder instead of fresh. I'm not a garlic fan at all but it worked in the dish. Instead of the water, I used the leftover tomato juice and enough water to make 1 cup. I also tried my baked chicken before putting in the sauce and it was delicious with the yogurt marinade by itself! Overall I found the dish to be full of flavor and it makes an incredible meal when paired with basmati rice!

I found this recipe easy to follow and quite tasty. I also used canned tomatoes, boneless chicken breasts, and smoked curry as other reviewers and was pleased with the results. I had doubled the recipe to have some to freeze for another day. I only halved again the water, which prevented it from getting too runny. I found the amount of double chicken enough for the first meal. The remainder of the sauce was frozen without chicken, which will be easy to fix the next time. I served the masala with basmati rice and garlic naan (frozen variety from the local Indian store and felt like I was eating out!

i had to use 4 chicken breasts, 1 lb was not enough at all! also, i didnt like broiling the cubes, it made it very dry and tough. it's much better to just cook the raw cubes in the sauce at the end for about 20 min. it also needed much more garam masala. and i made it spicier by adding cayenne pepper. i also used 1 28oz can of diced tomatoes since tomatoes are not in season right now. and it's just easier as well to use canned.

First and foremost, I can not believe I made this dish!! I love cooking, but rarely do I step out of my comfort zone, and Indian food of all things seemed way too ambitious!! How wrong I was! I actually feel proud of myself. I watched Aarti's video a few times, dashed to the Grands International Market (where I found EVERYTHING in the recipe and got right to work. I love the way the dish turned out. I used can tomatoes (28 oz it's January and I live in VA, the tomatoes look like plastic children's toys. I used the broiler for the chicken. The cooking time with my oven was twice as long as stated. I waited for the charring which made all the difference. MMM... I even had to pour a glass of wine!

    Thanks Aarti. What's next!

I absolutely love this recipe, especially for the winter! It's fast and easy, and very warming. I used a small can of tomatoes instead of fresh because that is all I had on hand. I also added another few serranos, because I like it spicy, and I used smoked paprika and baked my chiken in the oven, because I don't have a broiler. The smoked paprika gave it a great charred flavor. I will definitely make it again!
