I made this and found it was so quick and simple. I used Scharffen Berger bittersweet chocolate and the lovely candied ginger. The only thing I did differently was to cut down the amount of butter in the crust by half and it turned out fine. My boys devoured it and are usually hesitant to eat anything I put candied ginger into, but they loved it! Thank you and you are working it like a pro already, Aarti!

I made this for dessert and got rave reviews. I did however make a few changes. I couldn't find the chocolate wafers so I used only the ginger snaps, I cut down on the butter for the crust based on a few remarks and instead of using the candied ginger (couldn't find that either I added powered ginger to the crust and made the pudding chocolate only. We added whipped cream and strawberrys and it was fabulous. I love watching Aarti and seeing fresh ideas on FN, she is truly a natural.

AAAAA+++++!!!! Light and lovely, chocolatey, and not too sweet. Couldn't find plain chocolate cookies, so used Archway chocolate cookies instead. Because they were a little soft, the crust came out kind of chewy, but that turned out to be a good thing. The crystalized ginger adds a nice refreshing touch. I will definitely make this again, and I have a feeling my husband will choose this over cake for his next birthday.

Wonderful dessert! The ginger adds a bit of sophistication to a pudding pie. I only had 2 eggs and used 2% milk and it still turned out delicious. I could see changing it up a bit and adding ground cloves to the pudding in the future. But this was a wonderful end to a delicious dinner, your orange cardamon chicken and potatoes! Keep cooking, your spirit is contagious!

This is pretty much heaven on a plate! I LOVE chocolate and ginger. The pudding was incredibly easy to make. And guess what? I substituted RICE MILK for the whole milk and got the SAME super-thick rich consistency. It's chilling in the fridge, but I think I could eat the entire pie hot! The pudding is TO DIE FOR. So rich and creamy and chocolately. I found little lowfat chocolate wafers made by Oreo in the grocery store (use two packages and some all-natural gingersnaps. The crust came out nice and buttery - not greasy - like a pie crust should be. The all-natural corn starch helped create the super thick and SILKY pudding.

Don't be afraid to substitute the whole milk - rice milk, soy milk, almond milk should all work just fine. :

The crust was greasy. I did not like the filling either.
Cornstarch makes everything doughy and gag-worthy.

I could only find Nabisco chocolate wafers, and that small box was over $4!!! So I'm still looking, and waiting to make this pie! I might have to break down and use graham crackers, but I don't like them!

Your comments are getting old. We are tired of hearing from you. You are scary. Get a life and leave Aarti alone. She is charming and we are delighted she has won!
