I just had to try this. I could basically figure out how it was going to taste - but it was even better than I thought it would be. You must use good quality hot dogs, or you could even use a good smoked sausage. We used flat bread that I cut into large triangles, oiled with olive oil, sprinkled with salt and pepper and toasted in the oven. Served in small bowls and we just spooned what we wanted onto our pieces of bread. It really was delicious. Try it!

We used uncured hotdogs from Whole Foods. Very smoky flavor, went absolutely perfectly with the indian spices!

As I was short of ingrediants, I googled the nearest Indian grocery store and bought them (and some more. Amazingly simple to prepare and wonderful taste. What a great way to eat hot dogs.

Hi. I made this tonight and it is yummy. I tweaked the recipe a bit and it still turned out. I did not have spices to roast for the garam masala but I found a recipe online using the ground spices I have in my cupboard. I'm not that crazy about hot dogs so I used chicken thighs. I made the carrot, onion, garlic, tomato mix first and then transferred it to a bowl. Next, I put the chicken thighs in the pan and cooked them until done. Once done, I added back the mixture and used a little chicken broth to give more moisture. Once warmed through again, I served it over rice.
I will definitely make again.

We made this for dinner tonight, and used veggie dogs instead, as we don't eat animals. It was amazing! I'm looking forward to adapting this recipe into new dishes!

Thanks Aarti! I printed the recipe and went to the kitchen. My son walked in (19 yrs. old and asked what smells so awesome? I said hot dogs and he looked at me like I had lost my mind. I had no pita bread in the house so we had it over white rice. It was so tasty and different. I'll make it again for sure.

Sarah, Aarti did not say this is Indian food, she said her Indian mother made it for them and it reminds her of her mum. I have not tried this yet--(DVR'd it but intend to and the red lentils! Any authentic Indian recipies you could give would be really appreciated

Didn't have all the authentic ingredients for garam marsala so left 2 out but made the rest and it all was a hit! Love her yogurt smoothie from this episode too! Kids loved it! Glad she's still staying!

Quite tasty. My husband likes hotdogs and I have been getting him to be more daring when it comes to trying new flavors and foods. Plus its footballl season! Hotdogs and football go well together. I used hotdog buns instead of pita. I gave it 4 out of 5 stars because it is not as quite as awesome as Aarti's sloppy joes!!!
2Please don't rate recipes unless you have made/eaten it. IT WASTES MY TIME!
3If you are not capable of completing a recipe due to you your inability to use judgement (ex. previous post: "pitas were not in the recipe but were in the picture" then you should not be allowed to operate a stove/oven or use a knife.
4 I have a cousin that married into the family from India and I know how much time he spent making Indian food for my family. It was lots of time, and Aarti's fusion recipes help me quickly integrate Indian flavors into household's menu.
5 I am a young professional/(accountantmother and Aarti's show really grabs my attention :
