This chicken is great. Served it to my husband and a couple for dinner. Everyone really liked it. I even over cooked it a little bit because I was afraid 1/2 hour would be too little. I not only cooked it for about 5 minutes longer than she said, but I also left it in the oven after I turned the oven off... just leaving it there for 10 minutes or so as I finished up some veggies and set the table. Don't do what I did. Trust the 1/2 hour; it's enough time! I bought a whole chicken and had the butcher cut it in quarters. So I stuffed the butter mixture under both the white meat skin and the dark meat. It was seriously good. I cannot wait to try it again and next time I will pull it out at at exactly 1/2 hour and tent it for 5 minutes!

I have made this a couple of times since I got the recipe. My family loves this and so easy to prepare. My husband tried this on the outdoor grill one day because we didn't want to heat the kitchen. It turned out great but he did wrap the chicken in foil until almost done and then placed it on the grill to brown up some. Great either way we have prepared this and thanks Aarti for a wonderful meal.

I made this recipe and the chicken turned out great not to mention how fantastic the potatoes were. I read some of the reviews before making it. I baked my chicken on 450 for 20 mins then switched racks with the potatoes and did 20 more mins. The house smelled so good. Yes, there was a little smoke but it didn't bother me or my family. The chicken turned out flavorful and juicy. I also think I will add much more orange flavor next time. I'm excited because now I have another use for Cardamom. Go Aarti!!! This was the first recipe I tried of hers and I was impressed.

Made this recipe with chicken thighs. The skin came out so crispy and full of flavor. The chicken was really moist. I didn't have any problems with smoke in my oven. Will make again and again.

This was the firt recipe that I have tried with Cardamom. It was delicious! My daughter was even asking for seconds. I want to try it with boneless chicken next, though.

...to put all the drippings in! And use a deep pan - maybe a roasting pan?

The chicken was very tender and delicious! This was my first attempt at one of Aarti's recipes and found it to be very straight forward and easy.

Congrats on the Next Food Network Star win, Aarti - you were my favorite all the way through!

The problem is with the recipie. DO NOT USE A SHEET PAN! Closest I've been to a fire in my brand new stove. Does anyone check these recipies for people at home that do not have professional ovens? My stove is top of the line and I still had to nearly call the FD. Boo.

Our local store charges a lot for a small jar of cardomom, so I substituted cumin instead. It came out nice and savory! I will be making this recipe again! Thanks Aarti for making such an easy dish!

I also recommend that you run the self-clean on your oven if you plan on making this dish to avoid the smoke. My oven has never been up so high since I bought it!

Love this show and Aarti is very approachable, however, this was my first recipe of hers that I attempted. I saved the show and made it while watching. I doubled the cardamom and ginger couldn't even taste them, the orange definately overpowered the other flavors. That would have been fine but the smoke from the oven was crazy and the mess left in my oven after is too much to ignore so I now get to clean my oven tomorrow. I wish I would have read the reviews before attempting, I won't make that mistake again. The chicken was fine but nothing fantastic, certainly not worth the mess. I love indian food so I will certainly try more recipes, I will just be a bit more careful.

I did read the reviews but made the dish anyway - and got the most ridiculous smoke out of my oven that I've ever seen!!!! I went to use the oven a few days later and it was still pouring smoke. Made it as directed, I don't know how anybody could NOT get smoke. If anyone has made this without the smoke WHAT IS THE TRICK?! You must have to cover it. ?? I've got a new Kitchen Aid oven so it isn't that I'm working with a cheap oven here! That being said, the flavor combination was good and the chicken was tasty despite the hint of smoke. I'll do the compound butter portion of this recipe on a regular roast chicken next time, cooking at a reasonable temperature... forget this 500 degrees stuff. Three stars just because of the smoke.
