Have to say, the phrase "massage the kale" made me wince a little ( I am super-sensitive to "chunky' as well, however, I made this recipe yesterday to go with dinner and it was fabulous!
Kale has always been a little intimidating for me -not sure if the kids will like it and so forth. And it is a very sturdy green! It is amazing what a little massage will do for the Kale. I had no idea.
This is a salad we will be making again. Thank you!

I woke up Sunday morning only to find Aarti's new show on. I was excited to watch her new found success and see what she had in store. I had been thinking of wings for the day and the salad she created was a great mix of coolness for my wings. I wasn't able to find kale so I used spinach instead. Never one to use mangos much I have learned to love something new. The dressing was so simple but very flavorfull. I had some dried cranberries in the freezer and added those. The salad was completely gone but the wings were not. Thank you Aarti! I look forward to much more!

After watching your first show and enjoying it, I decided to add your Kale salad to my own dinner menu. As I had both a half avocado and tomato left from a previous night's dinner I added them to my helping of kale salad and it really went well.
Your journey to the winning spot was fun to watch and I wish you much success and enjoyment!

Incredible combination of simple flavors! Easy to make and even my two teenage boys went back for seconds, like others I used two lemons since my lemons were small, the pumpkin seeds add another perfect contrasting texture to the salad. Great recipe!

I had Swiss Chard instead of kale, but the massage technique worked magically (I find I can cook any kind of greens the same ways. And I used a peach instead of a mango. And I didn't put honey in the dressing, and I didn't have pumpkin seeds. I put some sage in the dressing along with black pepper. It came out delicious, my husband loved it too. Thanks! I love it when I can make a recipe from a show right away. And I look forward to learning more about how to use Indian spices and other ingredients.

Congrats, Sista! I know raw kale is so healthy and finally a recipe that takes out the bitterness and tastes good!! I really enjoy totally new foods and spices. We went to India a few years ago and I really liked the buffet meals that often included paneer cheese and always had the naan bread - each dinner was a new experience. I am so excited because I know you'll be helping us all actually MAKE luscious and exotic foods we never thought of before. Food is going to take on a new level of intrigue with your help... I'm glad we have TIVO and can watch you at our convenience. My hubby was plastered right to the screen with me every week. In the past I have watched lots of Food Network programs but never made the food recipes but I for sure am going to start with these Indian dishes. It will be a grand adventure for all who tune in. I hope there are alternatives when recipes get high in calories.. please consider that: Your big sparkley eyes are so magnetic, Aarti!

I know I should make the recipe first before reviewing it but I had to put my 2 cents in responding to "Ed" from Brownsville, Texas. He could not get over Aarti not washing her hands after touching different foods.
First of all, I am so glad that they didn't show Aarti washing her hands !!!!! Duh.....It's called "editing" There is no reason for them to waste time showing something so mundane. I really love Giada but do we really need to watch her smiling while washing her hands for 5-10 seconds on every episode while the music is playing ??? Geesh. Ok.....my 2 cents worth is over now.
