I adore Aarti's playful nature, and her great food. I made the Kale salad and it was SO GOOD!!!!! I grow my own kale, and untill now...I had just been juicing it. Give us more, Aarti!!!

I know I should make the recipe first before reviewing it but I had to put my 2 cents in responding to "Ed" from Brownsville, Texas. He could not get over Aarti not washing her hands after touching different foods.
First of all, I am so glad that they didn't show Aarti washing her hands !!!!! Duh.....It's called "editing" There is no reason for them to waste time showing something so mundane. I really love Giada but do we really need to watch her smiling while washing her hands for 5-10 seconds on every episode while the music is playing ??? Geesh. Ok.....my 2 cents worth is over now.

I had never had Kale before, and am not a huge honey or mango fan. But, I wanted to make the complete meal from Aarti's first show, and this was the salad so I figured I would give it a try! So good! Even my husband, who doesn't normally like vegetables, fruit, especially anything "exotic" liked it! My kids, who range in age from 8 to 12 liked it! It was strikingly beautiful too -- the contrast of colors with the green kale and mango. I noticed on the show Aarti had a fairly huge lemon -- mine were smaller, so I used two lemons instead. Very good, and it kept well, while I prepped the sloppy joes. Will bring this to the next potluck I go to.

I have been cooking for over 50 years, and am considered a very good and adventurous cook. However, I had never cooked or eaten kale in my life. But after watching Aarti's premier, I ran out and got the stuff for the Sloppy Bombay Joes and this. When I got home and was cleaning the kale, I tasted a leaf and got scared. It was bitter and tough, and I didn't think it would be good. But mixed with the other ingredients, and the little massage you give the kale, all the bitterness and toughness goes away....it was a delicious salad and I will make it again! Thank you, Aarti, for giving me the courage to expand my culinary repertoire!

This young woman is not only a beauty, but she can COOK! We voted for her and even though we also were fans of Brad and Herb, we are pleased to have Aarti's addition to the Sunday morning lineup. We look forward to many more shows.

I made the kale salad last night along with the Bombay sloppy joes and the pistachio kulfi. The salad was really fabulous. I'm not a huge kale fan but this process completely changed the texture so that it was quite appealing. I definitely picked up the mild scent of bananas. I also watched Aarti's video from her website on massaged kale. In that video she added carrots and avocado as well as mango and pepitas. This could easily become an entree salad. I'm looking forward to bringing this salad along to a dinner sometime soon. Everyone will be pleasantly surprised.

This is an easy really great salad. I never knew about the massage for the Kale, but I am sure I will be making this a regular at my house!

This recipe looks delicious. I've been looking for a new way, other than soups or sauteeing, to use this vegetable that has a lot of calcium because I need a calcium food source that's not a diary product. Thanks for the idea, and I look forward to trying this.

Oh, and webmaster, the 3 by 5 card didn't print out properly. Some of the directions were lost. Thanks!
