Thanks, Aarti for bringing into flavours into North American cooking. It's long over due. I'm going to try this receipt and let you know how it goes.

BTW my wife and I rooted for you all the way and are so happy for you that you get to live your dream.

God bless and keep up the great work.

My husband always uses his smoker to smoke our pork butts, I used his pulled pork for this recipe and it was delicious.

I watched all the episodes from the next food network star and Aarti deserved to win... all of her shows are great and like wine, she will get better with age.

I don't really even eat much pork, and have never cooked it. After watching Aarti's recipe (as with all her recipes so far, we decided to make it right away, and it was amazing. We did have trouble finding mango purees (even at the Indian store, so we ended up using mango baby food.
The flavor was excellent and it was pretty easy. My husband loves pulled pork, and this is his favorite now, and my 4year old also ate it up. Will definitely rub the pork the night before next time to see if it even adds more to the flavor.
I have been using food network recipes for a while, but this is the first review i wrote only because Aarti is phenomenal.

The mangoes I found were not quite ripe, so I put them on the counter for a few days and delayed making the dish.

It was so worth it. I pureed the mangoes in my blender, which needs some liquid to work properly. So I put all the liquid ingredients in with them: the molasses, lime juice, vinegar, etc. etc. It made a nice puree that I added to the onions, ginger and chiles. Just perfect.

Also, in the show, Aarti said we could rub our pork the night before, so I did that. It was so awesome. The sugar and paprika got right into the meat and started working on it before I ever put it in the pot.

My guys ate it all up and asked for more.

This is my home made garam masala receipe hopefullly you enjoy it too as much as i do.

    1 cup coriander seeds
    1/2 cup cumin seeds
    25 cloves
10-12 whole cardamom pods( do not use powder
    1 whole nutmeg
3 inches cinnamon ( if you have indian grocery near by try to purchase indian cinnamon it kind of gives you a different taste
    1 whole anise star

mix all dry ingrediants and powder them in coffee grinder or spice grinder.
this powder will stay fresh for 3 months and comes forever because we use very little of this powder.
All the above ingerediants you buy for less in indian grocery or ethnic store.

I used beef instead, fresh peaches instead of mango (they are in season and I already had them on hand, a little more sugar (because of the beef, and put it in a crock pot after sauteeing the onions/etc. It turned out great. I don't see how anyone can say they were "blah", they are anything but. It has a mellow but refreshing taste. It is not overly sweet, nor hot. Hits you in several spots in your mouth. It sure passed our picky house. I can't wait for more Indian twists on American food. I just love AArti, she is great. So sweet and original. I would like a recipe for garan masala though, I can't seem to find one on this website. ???possibilities for Aarti's line of spices/etc. Can't wait till Bobby Flay takes her up on his offer and starts an Indian Restaurant. Wouldn't it be great? Would also like to know where she gets those great blouses......

I loved this. I was worried with the mangos and the Molasses it would be super sweet. Just a hint. It is not aarti's fault the recipes are getting posted incomplete. Remeber last year when Melissa De'Arabin won. Her resipes were posted incomplete as well.
Next time I will add a couple serrano chilies. Did not have the heat I expected either but it was a sublte flavor in the back ground. My 18 year loved this... I will make it again and maybe 2-3 chilles.
Give Aarti the chance she deserves. We gave it to Melissa and she is still hammeering away with her show.

I was surprised that anything Aarti makes could be blah, but this bbq sauce certainly is. While lacking in overall flavor the sauce was a good consistency for pulled pork sandwiches.

I don't think the mango stands up well to the acids needed to break down the pork.

Like so many others have noted, the recipe instructions are incomplete and it's annoying to have to dig through many other posts to find the correct instructions.

Basically all the ingredients not addressed in the recipe instructions are added after the vegetables are softened and allowed to simmer for 5 minutes before the pork is added.

I will be back to try other Aarti recipes but they'll need to step up to her promise of spicy and flavorful foods.
