We made this whole dinner on Labor Day for a celebration! The flavors are really, really good and I will make thisagain. The 1 pepper called for, with seeds removed, was not noticeable at all, which is fine with me. Next time I may omit. Could not find the frozen mango but used mango necter from the Mexican aisle. It was not that flavorable, so I'll aim for the frozen puree. Since the pork shoulder is already fatty, I was hesitant about starting w/ 1/4 cup oil! I skimmed at least that much off before finishing and have another draining from the mixture as I get ready to put it away. Next time I will lessen the amount to just what is needed for the sauteeing. I also made the coleslaw from this segment and topped the sandwich with it.

Watched the show in the morning, bought the ingredients and made it the same day. It came out great. I pureed frozen mango since the puree was not available and I removed the seeds and ribs from the pepper (would leave them in next time. Some instructions are missing from the recipe but it was easy enough to figure out the missing steps.

Loved this dish - it is a great idea to post the recipes a couple of days ahead; this way I can shop for all the ingredients and cook the dish while watching the show!!
I live in a small town and mango puree is not common here; I use baby food often ahen something "exotic" is needed - mango baby food is just pureed mango...used it for this recipe and it worked like a charm!!

After watching you fix this wonder recipe, my wife went to the store to buy what she didn't have. It sat in the fridge overnight and after coming into the kitchen from working outside, I smelled this wonderful aroma.

My first taste was after it cooled down enough to test it with a finger. I was shocked about how hot (spicy it was. Be sure to drain the fat off, it carries all of the heat.

Love Aarti's new show! This recipe was very good. Turned out great, next time I think that I'll add a little more heat.

I saw the show and decided to try the recipe. I went out got all the food items and follow the recipe. Dry rub was straight forward and the wet ingredients I mixed together. It is all cooking now ..have 2 more hours to go. I am sure all will work out great....Hope see more interesting cooking from this show.

My son and I watched Aartie make this and just had to try it. We just put it all together and it is simmering away. The only thing is...nowhere in the recipe text states when to add the vinegar, mango, molasses, etc. after sauteeing the vegetables in the oil. We just presumed that we were to go ahead and add those missing ingredients because we watched the show. However, if you just look at the recipe as is, it will remain very confusing to someone who happens upon it. I hope they fix it as it looks like it is going to be a wonderful dish.

    The recipe instructions state:

BBQ sauce: In a large saucepan, warm the oil, over low heat, until hot and shimmering. Add the cumin and fennel; they should splutter upon contact - be careful! Once the spluttering subsides, add the onions, ginger and serrano and a little salt, to taste. Saute until they soften but don't let them get any color.

But on the show you ALSO added the Mango puree here !!!!

    Cheers ~
