I have these beans in the oven now thickening and can tell by the way they look, smell and taste that they're going to be a favorite. I love the combination of spices and would have never thought to use root beer. I used a cast iron skillet to prepare and bake; love the way bacon crisps in cast iron.

I loved it. The kids were not thrilled, but one doesn't like any beans. We have never had Indian food, so it was too different for the other. I'm looking forward to making it for a carry in.

These were fantastic! I followed the recipe as written, but subbed in red onion for the white onion. Great flavor...not your usual ketchup-y baked beans, which was what I was looking for.
