I made this for a party & was a little nervous about how it would go over. However as the other reviewers stated, it was mild, but very flavorful. Everyone wanted a link to the recipe - they loved it! Thanks, Aarti!

This recipe is great! I was expecting the flavor of the spices to be slightly overpowering but the sloppy joes were flavorful yet mellow. I just let the sauce simmer until it looked pretty thick and then added it to the meat and let it simmer longer than the recipe stated. My mom had left overs on rice the next day even though she was afraid of the raisins and pistachios and she raved about it my whole family!

This was an OMG recipe. A great variation of barbque. The seasonings (ie Garam Marsala, along with the nuts & raisins, made this awesome. I was surprised that using a serano pepper didn't make it spicey...just added to the flavor.

This is my go to Sloppy Joe recipe and I have made it several times. The kids like it too! I omit the raisins and nuts, personal preference, and it is perfect. Don't forget the cilantro, it really makes the sandwich "pop".

My boyfriend and I have a tried and true sloppy joe recipe we use, but we wanted to go for something a little different, so we gave Aarti's recipe a try. We followed the recipe almost exactly (with the exception of using dried cranberries instead of raisins, and it was good, but not nearly as flavorful as I was anticipating.

Maybe I'm just accustomed to my good ole joes, but I had high hopes for the recipe, given the number of tasty ingredients. We even added a little more garam masala after tasting it the first time, and it helped, but it still felt like something was missing...

Delicious and that was the consensus of all who tried it at my house. I purchased garam masala but now that I see Aarti's recipe for preparing her version, I will go that route next time. Aarti is the most refreshing addition to the Food Network via NFS since Guy Fieri!

My bf and I have been on a curry craze lately. This was a step away joining to very distinct cuisines. We made this today. It was tasty and super easy to make. We ended up adding an extra pepper to heat it up a bit more, but even without the extra heat it was really good. Surprisingly, I had most of the ingredients in my pantry, which made this recipe even easier! Will make again.

Excellent! I used Tikka Masala seasoning because that's all I had, cut back on the Serrano (because I tasted it raw ahead of time ; next time I would add double the raisins. Love that little bit of sweet with the heat. Didn't thicken up as nicely as I would have wanted it to, so ate it as an open faced sandwich. Still super yummy.

Yum yum yum! I made it exactly as the recipe called for minus the raisins because they gross me out and I did chop up the serrano peppers because I do like things spicy. My boyfriend does not like things as spicy as I do and he felt that the heat was pretty mild despite my cutting up the serrano and adding the seeds and membranes. A great staple recipe!
