I am an avid viewer of Food Network.
Watching the Next Food Network Star with Aarty was the absolute best. She and the final contestant were the main reasons that kept me glued to the TV set when the program aired.
I have not yet tried Aarty's recipes as, due to my diet I have to try and substitute a few ingredients however, each time I watch this lovely lady I salivate.
The judges of this program did an awesome job in selecting her. I found it close to her and the Healthy food.
Aarty if you could come up with a few recipes that are salt free, I would be forever grateful. Most of the other ingredients, such as nuts, in your recipes I can substitute or even omit.
Once again, Food Network - you are the best.

First --- even though I do not have an unlimited food budget, I am SO tired of the shows that spend 50% of the time telling us how to shop for dscounts and cut a corner by using an inferior ingredient. I think FN did a HUGE disservice to Melissa D'Arabian by making her focus on cost per squirt of lemon juice - not her fault. She is better than her show allows her to demo.
Now that THAT's off my chest --- Aarti's recipes appear wonderful and ingredients do not seem hard to find or exorbitantly priced! Really, if the average American and their preferences are so bland --- just cut off the TV and drive to McDs for a quarterpounder with cheese --- load up on the salt, pepper, and ketchup... Condiments that are cheap and easy to find at every fast food restaurant/white trash lunch counter !! Shelled pistachios, garam masala, cardamom and raisins are in every market in the USA, and will add something interesting to the dinner menus of most of us.
I think the kale salad looks simple and delicious, and already have my icee pop molds out and ready to pour in the tea mix. Yes --- I had all the ingredients for that one without a trip to the market.
Some of you people need to lighten up and give the girl a chance !!! I think this is an excellent departure from the standard Food TV fare and like others, have programmed in the series on the DVR !

Sorry, I just saw the first show an hour ago so can't review the recipies but I am sooo pleased that Aarti won.
I am so curious about Indian spices and flavors. I would love to see Aarti take us on a trip to India and have us in the kitchen's of her family that live there. Show us the marketplaces. How the foods are produced and sold. Please let her submerge us vicariously into her Indian culture. How about a Bolllywood Party? I love the movie Bride and Prejudice.
Thank you Food Network for a HOMERUN!!!!!

wonderful debut and great confidence. I did like the way she informed viewers about the spice box concept which is very common in Indian cooking.
I did not see any originality in the dishes she presented. True to her words, all she was doing was 'injecting' Indian flavor in American food. Awful, I am sorry to say.
I'd be skimming through this show, mostly to see how an opportunistic lady butchers American and Indian cuisine, with utter disregard to her cultural roots and the authenticity of Indian cuisine.
I'd prefer the Spice Goddess, Monisha Bharadwaj, Jamie Oliver (! or Neelam Batra when it comes to learning about REAL Indian cuisine. Not this fake p(hony.

Watched your first show and can't wait to try all three of your recipes. You were great! I'll be watching every week. By the way, your first reviewer, Mr. T from SLC, seemed way off the mark to me (too much brine on the brain?. I would love to have my "white-trash lunchtime favorites" jazzed up a bit with Indian spice. And you are the person, Aarti, to show me how. Who else is providing this wonderful service out there for us AVERAGE Americans? And I don't even live anywhere near New York or LA.
