Excellent dish! If you like spicy, I think adding some red chili powder would add good flavor. I subbed yellow onion for green onions because it's what I had on hand and added some cilantro to the dish, too. Easy and quick!

All I can say about this recipe is that my guests said it was the best rice they have ever had. I agree. I made it with her whole fish on the same show, and that also turned out prefectly. I thought the rinsing of the rice was a waste of time, but I did it at Aartis urging, and the resulting rice was perfect!

Nice flavors, but my rice went a bit mushy after the 5mins steaming time, it all kind of stuck together in one lump. I also didn't really like the lumps of tinned tomato in there, so perhaps I might use a tinned tomato sauce instead.

I loved this rice. Layers of flavor were amazing. I had the ginger/garlic paste in the refrigerator so everything came together really well. I would recommend trying this. So good. My husband also liked it. Absolutely lovely.

I omitted the peanuts, but I still couldn't get enough of this dish! It was so easy. Only note is that it took almost 3 times as long as it should have because my dutch oven is 5.5 quarts and seemed to steam the rice very slowly. I also used brown basmati rice and the brown rices always seem to take much longer to cook! Either way, this was great!

This was a wonderful side dish! I prepared it exactly as the recipe stated and resisted the urge to check or stir the rice while it was cooking and it turned out tender and delicious! Thanks Aarti, you have inspired me!

This rice dish was unique and really delicious! The cardamon, cinnamon , and cloves added unexpected and unusual flavors. The peanuts on top are a great flavor too. I will definitely make this again!
