This may be the best beef stew I've ever made. I cut down on the cayenne, but it was still a bit spicy. My husband and I didn't mind it, but while the kids ate it, I think they would've enjoyed it lots more if it were a bit milder. I also added some fresh spinach to ours. Will definitely make it again with some minor adjustments.

This is the BEST beef stew recipe. Its bursting with flavor and the beef is really tender. I cut back on the cayenne pepper because I don't like spicy food. And I usually just bake refrigerator biscuit to cut down on time/energy. I the only bad thing is it took me an hour to even get the stew in the oven! So I would recommend starting it like 3 hours before you plan to eat. But it's worth the wait :

Okay, I've been making beef stew since the author of this recipe has been in diapers. So I don't need a recipe to make beef stew. Okay, browning the meat is better than my dump and stir method. And the biscuits are easy and really tasty. And the flavors of the beef broth, meat and veggies are better than the cream of whatever soup I used. On second thought, sometimes old dogs can learn new tricks, especially when they are as tasty as this.I did add parsnips, turnips, mushrooms and kale but that was just to mess with my kids' minds. (Don't skip the biscuits. They are ridiculously easy and really tasty.

This is my very favorite stew recipe EVER!!! The only change I made was to dial down the cayenne to 1/4 tsp. I l also use store bought Grands biscuits instead of making the ones here (although they are good, I can make this before I get the kids from school and throw the pre-made biscuits in without any more time right on schedule with the recipe - EASY! and OH SO GOOD!!!!

Yummy! This stew was very easy to make. Rather than cook it in the oven, I put the browned meat in the slow cooker and added much more broth and tomato paste. The cayenne was a bit too spicy for my family, as I have young children. Otherwise, it was fantastic! I would recommend to my friends and will definately make it again without the cayenne though!

I loved it! I would however like a little more sauce.Next time I will add a little more wine and beef broth. I let mine cool off on top of the stove for an hour before I ate it and it was delicious. The directions were easy to follow and The flavor were very good. I added a little more cayenne to the flour mixture to give it a little more heat. I would recommend this to all my friends!

This was easy to make and had fantastic flavor! I increased the liquids as well, 1 additional cup of wine and 1 additional cup of beef broth. Also added whole mushrooms and 2 TBS roasted garlic in addition to the fresh... It turned out fantastic and the biscuits were a great addition to the top, since they are made with cornmeal as well as flour they were perfect for our household which is divided, I love biscuits and DH loves cornbread... This will definately be made again at our house! :D

The flavor is very good but the first time I made this it had almost no juice in the pot. So the secong time I made this I didn't bake it. I just cooked it on the stove top and baked the biscuits. It turned out great!
