I would have preferred a recipe for the sauce rather than a store bought one. Thanks.

The first time I made this I used a bottled hoisin sauce and it was just OK. I found a recipe for hoisin sauce on the FN and we loved it. I tried it once with peanut oil because I was out of sesame oil and that was a big mistake. Not nearly as good. I like it best with asparagas spears tho.

It would be nice to have Nutritional information w/these recipes - calories, fat, sodium, etc....How about alternate ways for less than 4-6 servings.

    Some people are single....

I didn't have green beans, but I had just bought 12 oz of asparagus yesterday, I jumped on those and they were an excellent substitute for the green beans.
I have read a few of these comments, about this recipe, some times, I think some of these people, just don't know much about shopping and grab what they think is the ingredient, use it and if the recipe doesn't turn out very good, then they jump on the chef, Hey people if you make a change in someone else's recipe, then sorry, that ain't the chef's fault, you probably don't know what you are doing. For gosh sake, learn to read a label.
This was an excellent recipe, flavorful, easy, and inexpensive, which in these times, is what everyone is looking for, except someone like Donald Trump, if he hasn't fallen on hard times again.

My family of three loved this recipe. It feed two normal appetites and one huge appetite! I added some whole mushrooms for more mouth feel.

Next time I may add some crushed red pepper for bite.

I changed the recipe slightly. I used boneless porkchops & to brown them, I used canola oil. I used the toasted sesame oil to marinate the porkchops for a few minutes. I followed the rest of the recipe till it came to the sauce. Since this was a cooked sauce, I added the leftover toasted sesame oil marinade & pork juice to the sherry & hoisen. Then, finished the rest of the recipe to the end. So, I think i got a bit more flavor out of the sesame oil into the finished dish. We enjoyed the dinner. I used frozen green beans, but I will definately use fresh beans when they come into season..
