Now, I only made the cake, and used my own chocolatey frosting (family favorite, so I had to, but that cake was way too dry and not very tasty.

I thought it was delicious. Yes, it was a lot of work but it was well worth it. I am a chocolate lover and it was very chocolatey but that's probably what I loved about it. I actually made it again a week later. YUM!

Too chocolatey? As if that's possible... I like chocolate and mocha and this cake is great. The pudding is really excellent by itself, but also on the cake it adds a nice amount of moisture. I used instant coffee instead of espresso powder. Serve this with vanilla ice cream, table cream, or homemade whipped cream -- you'll need a little dairy to cut the chocolate power. You should make this cake at least once to see for yourself. No, it won't take you 3 hours...

I TRIED THIS BUT I DIDNT ADD THE COFFEE OR EXPRESSO AND IT CAME OUT OK. IT IS A VERY RICH CAKE YOU WILL NEED MILK WITH BECAUSE ITS BECOMES A LIL ON THE DRY SIDE AFTER A FEW DAYS......COOKIE AND PUDDING WERE GREAT THOUGH

I made this cake for my mom's birthday because I saw it on the show and thought that it looked really tasty. I had 2 other people help me make the cake, it took far longer for 3 people than 40 minutes-- try 3 hours. When it was time to eat the cake, it was exactly as it says, blackout. Way too chocolately. However, the pudding was delicious and the cookies on top tasted good with the pudding frosting. But, the cake I feel needs more sugar because it was fairly bitter. I don't plan on making this again, because the results aren't worth all of the effort it takes to actually bake this cake.

THE CAKE WAS NOT WORTH WHAT IT COST TO MAKE OR THE MESS MAKING IT. WILL NOT MAKE AGAIN, BUT THE PUDDING PART WAS BEST OF ALL.
