    This is the fifth recipe I have made of Alex's.......all simply wonderful. Not only is her food scrumptious.......I love to watch her cook, she is witty and I can "feel" her passion for food.

    I made this for a friend's Bday bash and it was a huge hit. Everyone loved it. I served it with Blue Bell Homemade Vanilla (the best commercial vanilla ever, there was nothing left at the end of the night. This is now my go to apple dessert!

    I thought it was good. I didn't have enough apples so I just zested and put in the amount of juice and spicesI thought looked right. I tasted the apples too to make sure I didn't use too much citrus. for the topping I did the recipe as stated but but cut the sugar and butter down to a 1/4 cup the result was a perfect sweetness especially with a scoop of ice cream and very cumbly. I would increase the butter to 1/2 a cup next time to make it less crumbly.

    I made this apple crisp last night. My family did not care for it. We found the citrus and ginger to be overpowering. I probably will not make this recipe again.
