This is actually the first time I have really noticed a discrepancy between a recipe and the demonstration on the show. Not vital, but bananas were only sliced crosswise on the show, think the smaller pieces cut as in recipe would be too small. Also, she flamed the rum with the bananas as is traditional. I did this. Would skipping this change the flavor? Maybe not. It IS dangerous!

I have made this a few times now. It is great! I find it helpful to let the sauce cool a bit before you put the ice cream on, or else I end up with a lot of melted ice cream. The other good thing about this is that it's not very expensive.

I've been making Bananas Foster for years - - I WAS SO WRONG!! This is the real deal. Love this dish, love this show, love Alex. Do not change a thing - - this is perfection in a bowl.
