This recipe is a typical gingerbread cookie recipe; it held up nicely using cookie cutters, but overall, less than average. The orange icing is the best thing about it. Is it worth the trouble of re-writing the recipe so it can print on one page instead of 2? not sure. I expected more with it being a featured holiday cookie recipe.

I was so excited to find this recipe because I fell in love with the ginger cut-out cookies at a local bakery that added a hint of orange to theirs. These taste wonderful! I made these in gingerbread man and snowflake shapes and now plan to freeze them and then decorate them with the orange frosting when I get ready to serve them in a couple of weeks.

The addition of Orange Zest and the Orange Frosting to this very basic, almost universal, Gingerbread Cookie recipe brightens the flavor a touch; but as it compares to others, it is slightly above unremarkable.
