I really like the taste of these cookies, especially warm and fresh out of the oven. After the cookies cool, the orange zest really comes through. The cookie can stand alone without the frosting. In fact the orange flavor in the frosting is too strong and does not go well with the cookie. After attempting to tone down the orange flavored frosting with butter, which didn't work, I choose not to frost the cookies at all.

This cookie was by far one of the easiest and most delisiously tantilizing treat i have had in a long time. The taste reminded me of my child hood a big warm cookie and cold glass of milk, it tasted like home. Thank You Alex!

I am not a seasoned cook. I follow recipes and pray for the best. I made these ginderbread cookies and they are the BEST I have ever made or tasted! I love the orange glaze. I am making a second batch tonight because my husband at my first batch. I am excited to try the next cookie in the 12 Days of Cookies!

My kids loved these cookies and would rate them a 5... I told my husband they seemed too sweet and didn't really taste like gingerbread. He said that's probably why he liked them. We doubled the spices and grated in a little fresh ginger, and if we hadn't, I imagine they would have been way too mild for us...more like a cinnamon sugar cookie. We all liked the orange twist. The frosting was difficult to pipe -- sort of oozed; I must not have had the consistency right. We watered it down at the end and just glazed a few, which we liked better because it didn't overpower the cookie.

I've been tring to find a recipe that was aleast close to my Grandma Alma's gingerbread cookies for the longest and I think I findly found it. They brought back memories of winters at Grandma's house in northern Wisconsin.

I did not think these would measure up to my Grandma's gingerbread recipe, but I was wrong. The orange zest really added something and they were a hit in the office this morning. At first taste (when they were out of the oven about 20 minutes or so I also thought they needed more salt and molasses. But after a night, the taste this morning seemed perfect. Guess they just need a little time to "cure". Easy to make and a definite keeper for me.

These were really good, but next time I would add a pinch more salt and a few tablespoons more molasses to up the flavour a bit.
