Tried this dish tonight. I loved it! I never considered grilling lettuce before (for some reason and it had a great flavor and texture. I prepared the recipe as is and I did not notice much of the anchovy flavor.

This is one of my favorite salad recipes. We've gotten rave reviews from our guests too. I've never added the anchovies, though, since I rarely have them on hand. Maybe the previous reviewer would have liked it w/o the anchovies. We've tried it with parmesan, but it's actually better with blue cheese. And it's perfectly good w/o basil if you don't have any on hand.

This salad was amazing! I'm not a blue cheese fan, so I replaced it with goat cheese. The smoky chared combined with the cool crisp romaine really meld well with the saltiness of the dressing.

I can't wait to try this! My dad makes a great homemade ceaser salad, but it's really complicated. This one looks so easy and yummy! Especially with the blue cheese.

I love you Alex! My husband and I call you the "Food Porn" lady, because you have a wonderful way of making everything sound so decadent.

The dressing was awesome. The idea is good, too. It makes a very impressive platter arrangement. I also grilled a slice of red onion. And I added some croutons. I think the basil really made the dish. Oh, and I forgot the blue cheese, too.

Fantastic! I loved this and I am already making it again. My boyfriend didn't like the idea of grilled romaine but loved the dressing. I am certain that I'll be making this so often I will soon have the dressing recipe memorized.
