Mine are in the oven cooking right now so I do not know if they came out perfectly. I did not put any granulated sugar in, but when I saw the post about missing sugar, looked up a couple of other recipes for French macaroons. Some have a couple of tablespoons of sugar just for whipping with the egg whites. If it was not on the episode and not in the recipe, it is inconsequential -- particularly with 2-1/2 cups of powdered sugar! My opinion only -- I have 10 minutes to go until mine are finished cooking.

I just checked the episode on my dvr and found that the vanilla bean pulp was put directly into the whipped egg white/powdered sugar. There is no vanilla sugar per se in the recipe according to the program.

These cookies look absolutely wonderful...my mouth was watering while watching
the show!!
I agree with the other ladies review about the sugar in the first part of beating the egg whites,
it was not listed in the ingredients & I can't remember if it was granulated sugar or powdered
& how much!

I too cannot wait to bake these lovely, lemony, little delights, I will however have to wait until this Tues.(Oct.26thwhen this show repeats in the morning.
Check your listings Cookie Finalist, and we can then come back and tell the world how fabulous (or not these are.

I would love to try these cookies, except I believe that the granulated sugar was left out of the list of ingredients. Does anyone else see what I'm talking about? I need to know the amount of sugar to mix with the vanilla bean pulp. Thanks!
