This was my first time attempt to making a pasta/ marinara sauce. My daughter was adaqment about having this for dinner. I was pleasantly surprised to find Alex's receipe to be simple to follow and extremely flavorful. My husband's as well as daughter's recommendation is to go easy on the peppers. Although his Godmother (R.I.P. would have loved it as she was Italian and loved the spicyness of it, my family would recommend 1 tsp. MAX of the pepper. Enjoy! This is certainly a first timer's successful recipe. Thank you Alex!!!!

I followed the recipe as presented and I ended up with an orange Marinara Sauce with a dominate onion and carrot flavor. I was making it to build a lasagna with and surprisingly it did better than I thought it would, but it was too bland to hold up to the rest of the recipe.

Loved the meatballs. The sauce has great flavor but there was not enough of it. I added a can of fire roasted tomatoes and only 1/2 the amount of water that was in the recipe. I cooked my sauce longer and the onions and carrots cooked up so you did not have that onion crunch. It did need more S&P.

This is an onion sauce with tomatoes. Coming from an Italian heritage, I've never seen a tomato sauce made with so much onion. And the texture isn't what I consider a tomato sauce.

I made this receipe tonight for the first time along with Alex's meatball receipe. Everything turned out great. I deceided to tweek my version a bit. Instead of using water in the sauce I used beef stock and I also used fresh roma tomatoes from my garden. I also added 2 tablespoons a tomatoe paste because the sauce was too thin for me.
With the meatballs I did not add additional red pepper since that my son does not like too many spicey foods. And I only created 12 meatballs and then deceided at the last minute to brown the rest of the mixture to make more of a hearty sauce. Well it was the right decision because everyone loved it.
I will be adding this receipe to my personal file.

On TV, Alex used 2 cans of tomatoes and no water. Recipe calls for 1 can of tomatoes and 4 cups of water. Please confirm which is correct before I make this sauce. Don't want to ruin it!

There are errors in this recipe. Alex did not put as much ofred pepper flakes in the recipe. Also, she used 2 cans of tomatoes and NO WATER!

I made this marinara last night and it was DELICIOUS!! I used it to top raviolli and will use it for all my pastas from now on. SUPER easy to make there is just no reason to buy the jarred stuff (which is loaded with added sugar, the sauce is naturally sweet with just a little sugar added. Love Alex's recipes!!
