Really good....I modified it a bit...I used a bit less wine and for sweetness, I had a little leftover orange honey and sour cherry jam....I added that along with a touch of sugar. So good but then I added the lemon juice and it went to Wow!. We're having a Spanish tapa's dinner so I used Tempranillo wine and Grenache vinegar.
I like the mustard idea...may try that next time..maybe with pork or salmon

Pretty good recipe - I used less wine and a little extra sugar and butter per other reviewers, in addition to the lemon rind and juice - but I did find it very very sweet after all that. I cut it with Dijon mustard - added a little zesty flavor and its pretty tasty now!

Made this recipe and served with cornbread (delish. It cooked/reduced on the back burner while I prepared the rest of dinner. I may reduce the wine and add a little brown sugar and butter for gloss as suggested. It was a hit over the summer and I plan to serve it with meatloaf this weekend.

The other reviews were so spot on - thank you so much! I toned down the wine and added brown sugar and a knob of butter at the end for sheen - and ended up with a sweet, sticky jam which we served on top of huge slices of nutty, rustic bread, slow-cooked beef and a mushroom gravy w/ a side salad - delish!! Thank you from NZ Alex!!!

My family loved this onion jam, as much as I love Alex!! I did find that the wine did not reduce completely, so I would recommend using a little less. I did add the lemon to make the flavors really come alive. It was fabulous over her cornbread recipe which was also great!

This was excellent after a bit of tweaking. I used half as much wine as called for (thanks, previous reviewers!, added some brown sugar for a bit of extra sweetness, used the optional lemon, and then finished it off with a bit of butter for a glossy look and rich mouthfeel. I'm serving it over grilled chicken for dinner amd can't wait to see what my boyfriend thinks! It made a LOT but I'll find plenty of uses for it - - - pork chops, sandwiches . . . YUM!!

I have a question Alex is it possible that you can find me something else instead of red wine?
