Delicious rolls! The best I've ever had. I get requests to make them all the time! I always mix the ingredients to make the dough by hand and it turns out best that way for me. They are very soft and fluffy. I almost always let them rise about twice as long as it calls for if not longer in the bowl, and add the extra flour slowly to make sure I come to the consistency I want; whether you like them more doughy and soft or more firm is up to you and how much of the extra flour you add after the initial 6 1/2 cups. I rarely use more than 7 cups of flour total. I usually don't cook them for quite as long as it says either. I start with a lower time and check them.

I made these dinner rolls 3 times over Thanksgiving. My family LOVED them. When I went to my daughter's we made them using about half whole wheat flour. They were delicious also. The grandkids liked them so much they asked me to make them for Christmas. I followed the recipe exactly. So easy! I did let them rise for 30 minutes before I froze them. Turned out perfect. This is my new go to dinner roll recipe.

These rolls are amazing. I usually don't have good luck with yeast recipes but these were very easy to make and the results were great. I don't have a mixer so mixed them by hand. I removed the frozen rolls from freezer when I put the turkey in the oven and when turkey was done I baked the rolls. The flavor of these rolls was loved by all and made great turkey sandwiches the next day. I am going to try baking the rolls when I make them and heat them up when needed. Regardless, I think they are fail proof.

These came out perfect from they very start, although, if I didn't have that slide show to accompany the recipe, I probably would have been lost on the part about folding them over. They're so buttery, and flaky, and soft. Mmm mmm! And it's true--they are good fresh or after being frozen. They're even good heated up in the microwave for about 15 seconds days later. I tried Bobby's recipe for Parker House rolls a few times, and these blew them away on the first try. Granted, I mixed the dough for Alex's recipe using a hand mixer with the dough attachment, while I used a food processor for Bobby's, so I think the dough might have gotten over worked in the food processor, but I'm not going back. This will be my go to recipe for rolls. The only thing I wasn't quite sure of was whether or not I was supposed to knead the dough, so I did so for a minute or two and then let it rise. I can't wait to make these again!

Absolutely amazing! Followed the recipe exactly and these are by far the best dinner rolls I have ever eaten. Perfect for Thanksgiving or anytime you want that "wow" factor with dinner!

I made these on Saturday before thanksgiving and put them in the freezer. I baked them on thanksgiving day and they were the hit of my meal! This was the first time that I had made rolls without using a bread machine. The instructions were very detailed and easy to follow. I made than again yesterday and used some of the dough to make cinnamon rolls. My teenage sons gobbled them up.

I made these yesterday for a second family Thanksgiving dinner. They were delicious and everyone loved them! They had that dense, yeasty and fresh taste you just can't get with even the best purchased rolls. The directions were spot on. I made them earlier in the day then wrapped the whole tray in plastic and refrigerated them. About an hour before dinner I took them out to come to room temp. Baked them as directed with the other side dishes and they came out perfectly. Thanks, Alex, you rock!

Although I think a short second rise is wise, this is an easy to make recipe, with a deeper flavor than many bland dinner rolls. The addition of the salt and butter at the end adds to that flavor quite well. This is my go to homemade dinner roll recipe. Nothing stands up to a leftover turkey sandwich like Parker House rolls. Those who stated they were dense should know that is what sets Parker House aside from all the other recipes...it's denseness. This is why my second rise is short...just a 1/2 hour. Maybe not for all, but WE LOVE THEM!

Wow. These are addictive. They are so beautiful that I still can't believe I made them from scratch myself. Super easy directions and it came out just as the recipe said. Mine did take a little longer to rise than what the recipe said, but my house tends to be on the cooler side so I'm sure this is why. The hint of salt (I used kosher not having sea salt just sealed the deal for us. I don't know how anyone could rate these any lower than 5 stars. They are heavenly.
