I finally got around to trying this recipe and boy am I glad!!!! Definitely going to be my go-to cake for special occasions or just because...There are a couple of things I tweeked not on purpose. I forgot to melt the butter (just used room temp and I used 2 cups of light vanilla yogurt instead of sour cream. Everything from the cake to the frosting came out light and fluffy. The cake was very moist, maybe because I used yogurt because it was all I had and the frosting was like eating clouds of sugar!! Do try to make if your considering, it is soooo worth it!!!

Great cake! I made it for MY birthday and the family loved it. I was lazy and used mini chocolate chips instead of cutting the chocolate. The Italian Merange frosting took close to 8 minutes of beating over a double boiler to get to 140 but came out GREAT...just like a marshmellow. An easy cake with a great frosting thay you just slop on. Will prob try again in a 9 x 13 pan just for a Sunday dinner dessert.

I did this cake twice, in the evening BEFORE the bday party and the morning of...I did it twice. Thing is, is that I could not get it to rise properly. I had the freshest of ingredients, so that was not an issue. It was disappointing... however, with this being said, I had four layers and everyone raved about how good it was... Flat, but good. So, it was not a total loss... Just ugly.

A moist not overly sweet cake. Easy to mix up in one bowl. I baked this into cupcakes (convection oven temp 350 for 15 minutes Substituted mini semi sweet chocolate chips for the chopped chocolate. My husband, a big chocolate chip cookie fan, loved these cupcakes. I did not make the marshmallow frosting instead dipped them into ganache~yummm. Will make again and dub them~Chocolate Chip Cupcakes : Thanks!

Delicious! It has a very muffin like texture, and is a great base for creativity. Wonderful with fresh berries of any kind, and especially delicious with the chocolate and fresh raspberries baked in. Start checking cakes around 26 minutes, and the frosting yields a LOT. Wonderful!

This cake was very tasty! I made it for my mother's birthday and everyone loved it. I am glad that I read previous reviews about the baking time because I checked mine after about 26 minutes and it was done. I also really liked the marshmallow frosting, the flavor was great. I did't pay attention to what I was doing and added the vanilla before beating the eggs, so my frosting wasn't fluffy, but it still had good flavor.

The cake was moist and dense. I used semi-sweet chocolate chips and the bake time was 27 minutes for two layers. Next time I make this cake I will use a bundt pan. It had the texture of a pound cake.

This turned out super good. I didn't have sour cream (hazard of living in Spain and used 1/2 creme fraiche and half heavy cooking cream. We love it toped with a simple peanut butter frosting. ** I used regular flour and cooked it for about 40 minutes.
