11/24/10 Okay! It's in the oven... I'm hoping it looks as good as Alex's. I am a little bit worried about the amount of sugar but, considering the cranberries are tart, I'm sure it'll be fine (fingers crossed!. I substituted the three, whole cloves with 1/4 tsp. of ground cloves. The filling smells wonderful!

11/26/10 Pie was a hit! It was a little tart, but the sweet whipped cream balanced out the tartness. I'm not used to eating cranberries in a pie, so I was pleasantly surprised how well it tasted; so was everyone else!

I made this pie over the weekend came out great. I used my own pie recipe but used the filling recipe. I cut the sugar back a little because I was worried that it would be too much and it came out fine a little on the tart side but I like cranberries for this reason. I did an egg wash over the top crust then sprinkled sugar on the top. Came out beautiful and was delicious.

I have to be honest, I didn't make the pie but was looking for a pie crust recipe..and I found one!! With this recipe I can finally make a crust just like my mom! Using your hands to mix the ingreidents is so easy, the crust come out perfectly! I cut the recipe in half for a pumpkin pie. Next I'll make the cranberry pie!

One word - Delicious! This pie will be my main dessert for the upcoming holidays. The combination of cranberries and pears compliment each other. The whole cloves, lemon juice, and orange zest brought out the distinctive flavors of each ingredient. In preparing the pie filling I used Turbinado sugar instead of white sugar. I added an extra one-fourth cup of Turbinado sugar to the cranberry mixture. I substituted one tablespoon agave nectar for the corn syrup. This pie is best enjoyed late in the evening while sitting by the fireplace, listening to soft Christmas music, and sipping on a cup of hot java with your loved ones. Enjoy!
