Ingredients

Marinade:

  • 1/8 cup soy sauce
  • 1/4 cup Worcestershire sauce
  • 3 tablespoons liquid smoke
  • 2 lemons, juiced
  • 1 lime, juiced
  • 1 orange, juiced
  • 1 bay leaf
  • 1/2 teaspoon cayenne pepper
  • Salt and pepper
  • 4 pounds skirt or flank steak
  • 1 bottle Italian dressing (recommended: Kraft)

Fajita Toppings:

  • Grilled onions
  • Grilled peppers
  • Flour or corn tortillas
  • Lettuce
  • Cheese
  • Salsa

Directions

In a large pot, combine ingredients for marinade, and simmer over medium heat until flavors meld. Let mixture cool, place meat in a shallow dish, pour marinade over meat, and let marinate in the refrigerator for 2 hours. Place meat in clean shallow dish and cover with Italian dressing. Marinate for 1 more hour in the refrigerator.

Preheat a grill to 425 degrees F.

Grill steak, along with onions and peppers, for 10 minutes on each side. Remove from heat and let rest for 5 minutes. Slice meat into strips, cutting across the grain. Top with your favorite toppings, and serve with flour or corn tortillas.

I've never given a low rating because I think that anyone that is willing to share their treasured recipes with the world should get credit. My mom is one of those that likes to keep her secret recipes "SECRET", sharing them only with her kids, so I'm always grateful when someone is willing to share. However, this was so disappointing. No taste other than the weird taste it gave to the fajitas. I ended up grabbing a package of taco seasoning I had up in the cupboard and added a sprinkle or two just to give it some different taste to mask it a little. I do think though that the marinade would be fine if I were just bbqing a steak because it did make the meat very tender but a good spicy fajita it was not!! SORRY but thank you so much for giving me a tenderizer recipe that I will use this summer.

This recipe had flavor but it needed something a bit more to kick my tastebuds into overdrive.
