This was so good but because of all the mixed reviews of the maze part I used a much more simple recipe from a mexican cook book. But followed all the rest and it was amazing!

I found this to be one of the better tamale recipes. Worth trying, and once you do you will use it again!

This recipe is a disaster. First of all, 2 1/2 pounds of pork roast is not nearly enough to fill this many tamales. Secondly, don't even try to make the masa this way: it will be dry as sand. Finally, the chile sauce is dull and one-dimenensional--it's an okay start, but requires lots of doctoring to make it have any flavor depth. Really...look for a better recipe!

The pork filling turned out great. But I made half the masa and still added 5-6 cps more water. Not a good recipe for a beginner like me. But in the end they turned out really tasty.

The pork and chili sauce parts of the recipe were good. A little salty, but good.

The masa part of the recipe was not possible to make. I know, I tried it. That knocked two stars off my rating.

I ended up with the pork and chili sauce, plus store bought, premade masa, and was very happy.

I have made tamales for three years now and wanted to try a new recipe so I followed it until I got to the Masa flour. I rated this low because if someone who had never made tamales tried this recipe they would never get the right idea of portions. 10 pounds of masa didn't sound right and the salt was too much as well my freinds and I were bloated for days. Though the flavor was good for the beginner maker this recipe does not work.

the tamales were very good but,the recipe for the masa made way too much for the amount of filling the recipe made. I also had to add about 31/2 cups stock to the masa to make it plyable enough to spread. It was my first atempt at making tamales and I was pleased with the outcome.
