Always hearing good things about Alton Brown I decided to try his Angel Food Cake. I grew up on a farm and have made them from scratch since I was 10 years old (I am now 66. This is the FIRST time I have ever had one fall out of the pan because it was not baked enough. Not sure what happened, I baked it five minutes longer than it said because the cracks were still moist and tested it with a skewer and it came out clean. It does have a good flavor, I used Almond and Vanilla extract. I will try it again sometime, just not now, as I was baking it to enter in the County Fair.

Just an FYI I DON'T BAKE. (unless you count out of a box lol. And even I can do this. I followed the instructions AS IS and I had no problem at all. But I did use vanilla extrat instead of orange. The only thing I noticed during the baking process was it did take some time to get the stiff medium peaks he was looking for but I got it. DO NOT grease your pan or it won't rise. And remember to let it cool an hour before trying to take it out of the pan. No peaky!! This was my first angel food cake that I've ever made and I'm definatly pleased with it and will make it again. To those who are having difficulty you have to follow directions EXACTLY or else it will come out wrong. Best of luck to you all!!

I made this recipe several times now, and it came out perfect each time. I follow it exactly, except I use vanilla extract instead. Definitely let it cool for an hour upside down. Do NOT grease the tube pan, otherwise the cake won't climb. For all the reviews that say this recipe needs to be improved, I think your baking skills need to be improved.

I made this cake with my best friend and we had a ton of difficulties. When we were sifting the flour onto the top of the egg whites we did'nt realize that you only had to cover the top so we kept adding more flour. When we stopped, we had a ton left still!!!. I even had some batter left over afterwards. When I put in a cake tester at around 35 mins, it came out clean, in SEVERAL PLACES!!!! But after letting it cool, it turned into a wet gooey mush!!! Love Alton Brown but this cake needs help!!!! Could just be me though......

Delicious and not really that hard (okay, a little hard. This was my first cake from scratch, I followed the recipe exactly and voila. Perfect! I used almond extract and my husband loved it. Said it tasted like the one the old church ladies use to make. I watched the "Let them eat foam" episodes on You tube and it made it easier to follow. The whole preparing, baking, serving experience was fantastic! Thanks Alton and Good eats!

This is a staple in my kitchen. I switch it up a bit and use vanilla sugar instead of vanilla extract. SO YUMMY!! I also like to put in 3/8 tsp of Pampered Chef Cinnamon Spice Mix or even 1 oz of flavored jello (the kids love strawberry.

Delicious! This was my first attempt at an angel food cake and it turned out perfect. My boyfriend was doubtful as my tube pan is a bit on the small side and doesn't have a removable bottom. The cake puffed several inches over the top as a result of the small pan but it came out with no problem.
