Spot on AB! A little piece of Southern Heaven. Wow, did it bring back great memories of my childhood. Everyone loved it for Easter Dinner and my daughter still is talking about it.
Edited to say that I used Nilla Wafers instead of making them per the recipe. Still an excellent dessert and the standard vanilla wafer brand for yummy banana pudding.

This is a very tasty recipe for banana pudding. I made the vanilla wafers rather than going with the boxed variety and was very pleased with the result. The pudding was excellent. Everything together made for a nice, somewhat light and very flavorful dessert. In a clear, glass bowl, the pudding presented quite nicely.

I am not sure if I read this wrong the 4 times I read it but I have no idea where to put the lemon juice. I am assuming the meringue but I left it out. There wasn't enough pudding either, so I doubled it, but I am like my banana pudding to have a lot of pudding. Very nummy.

This is the best banana pudding recipe! I made the homemade wafers too. I doubled the sugar in the meringue because I like mine just a tad sweeter. Next time, I think I will either add more pudding or cut down on the wafers; it was not as wet as I like. The flavor was amazing and my husband declared it the the best dessert he has ever had!

I've been wanting to try this recipe since I first watched this episode of Good Eats months ago and finally got to it. I also made Alton's homemade vanilla wafers from the same episode. SO. GOOD. Yes, the recipe makes a surprisingly small amount of pudding, but as MilkMaiden noted once it is all layered, there is plenty to eat. Definitely recommend the homemade wafers too, though. You will not be sorry.

Loved the taste, but the recipe made too little of the actual banana pudding. Next time I will thin it out a bit to make more pudding before baking.

Delicious, authentic and very easy. I was initially surprised at how little pudding the recipe made, but with the layering it worked out perfectly.

Took this to a football playoff party. Those from the South who grew up on this stuff loved it, they really loved it. This is what you hope for in a comfort food dessert. A good balance of wafer, banana, pudding and meringue that when it hits your tongue, leaves no question that this goodness did not come out of a box or a can. I also made the vanilla wafers and put some of the extras on the side so that they could have some of the crispy vanilla wafers with the pudding.

I have never heard of a warm banana pudding before, but this was awesome! Warm pudding is the best anyway, and it is great with the baked meringue on top!
