I love this recipe - it's simple, with basic ingredients, but it gives the dish a "grown up" flair that kids will still eat, too. The flavors all blend together nicely, the cheese doesn't dry out or get gritty - it stays creamy and delicious. Super, super. My new favorite mac and cheese recipe.

The kids LOVED it and my husband too! The only thing I changed (for a visual difference was the elbow macaroni. I used Cavatappi*36, which is elbows with twists and ridges. I also grated in 1/4 cup of parmasean cheese for a different flare and it was yummmmmy!

This is my standby recipe for mac and cheese now- really delicous! I used 2 bricks of cheddar instead of what it calls for and a whole box of pasta. This is the best macaroni and cheese I've had- mine was very creamy, didn't come out grainy like some other viewers had trouble with.

I love mac and cheese and I particularly love this recipie. It is easy to make and quite classic in nature.

I think that this recipe makes a good dish, but i agree with the other reviews - it isn't your typical macaroni and cheese. I did find it to be grainy, but it is possible that was my error. The sauce is twice as much as you need for 8oz of dry pasts - i had to make the rest of the box to use up the sauce. It is tasty and different if that's what you're looking for.

I love this recipe without the onions. I also find the bay leaf a little strong so I cut it in half and only boil it with the milk for 1 minute.

I liked the recipe for the techniques it teaches. For pure cheesey-ness, I prefer the stove-top version, but this is one of the best baked mac-n-cheese recipes I've found. However, my husband gave it thumbs down because of the onions.

I absolutely love the flavors in this macaroni and cheese. It has such subtle flavors with the bay and the REAL cheddar. The panko crumb topping is the best!

Alton has outdone himself again with this macaroni and cheese recipe. First of all, it is very easy -- so even my wife can make it. Second, it tastes as good as it is easy!!!

    Thank you Alton.
