Did anyone else get a very, very thin batter? I assumed "16 oz buttermilk" meant 2 cups, as in liquid ounces--was I supposed to go by weight like the dry ingredients? I've never had this problem with AB's recipes before. Advice? Suggestions? Thank you!

Absolutely loved these, I made them with wild strawberries in the batter. My kids loved them!

Fabulous!!!!! They were light and fluffy, though I prefer a crispier waffle, these had a great flavor. I will definitely make them again.

I love this recipe although my waffle iron isn't that great (pretty cheap actually I still got a tender fluffy waffle. I like mine a little sweeter so I added an extra tbs of sugar and a tsp of vanilla and they were delectable. I wish i could have gotten the crust a little crisper but my iron only has one setting I put mine int the toaster after they were done. Next time I am going to add chocolate chips.

I prefer a slightly crisper waffle, but to each their own. As far as this recipe is concerned, it was quite good. They're not labeled "Crispy Waffle" or whatever people expect them to be, but rather "Basic Waffle." That's precisely what it is.

Also, who measures everything in ounces? Nobody unless they want the measurement to be accurate or live in places outside of America--where they'd use grams.

The wheat flour was just enough to add flavor without overwhelming it. Slightly crispy crust with tender center.

Once again Alton Brown has another awesome recipe. Perfect sweetness, and fluffy, I have to add just a little bit more buttermilk though.

These were great tasting and soft. I don't like crispy and crunchy waffles.

Super easy to throw together, and I loved how they turned out!! Nice flavor and texture. I made some "regular" waffles, and some "belgian", and the regular ones seemed to turn out crispier (which I like. One weird thing. . . after letting the batter sit for 5 minutes the top looked great when I started pouring, but underneath the batter was super runny. Not sure what happened there, but they all turned out great.
