I was slightly disappointed that none of the flour/panko mixture would stick to my onions. I ended up with a bunch of naked onions That being said, this is still the best green bean casserole that I have ever had! The flavor is fantastic, and it is easy to make. It was a big hit with all of my family at our Thanksgiving dinner this year.

I made this as one of my side dishes on Thanksgiving and it tasted great! We had hardly any leftovers so that speaks for itself. The only thing I had difficulty with was the onion-breadcrumb topping. Despite frequent checking, I had a hard time getting the topping evenly browned. I burned it the first time and had to throw it away and do another batch of onions. I was careful, but some onions still burned a little and some were not browned well. It still tasted wonderful, but I wonder if there is an easier way to make a crunchy topping

I decided to make green bean casserole & liked the idea of making my own, non-processed onions instead of buying God-knows-what in a can. I really didn't grow up with green bean casserole so maybe I just don't have the years of eating more ho-hum versions, but I thought the result was far short of the usual AB has knocked our socks off again reaction that I usually get.

This truly is the best gb casserole I've ever had. We didn't do the homemade onions (we like the extra crunchiness of the canned ones, but the followed the rest of the recipe. It was awesome. My in-laws, who don't normally like this casserole, loved it on our Thanksgiving dinner table.

I LOVED the recipe but my onions were too wet when I mixed them with the bread crumbs and flour. I would suggest blotting the onions prior to mixing with the dry ingredients. Otherwise, GREAT recipe. I am making it for my family this thanksgiving!

This recipe is a distinct improvement of a traditional Thanksgiving dish! (Did add a dash of Worcestershire to the sauce.

Before this, my family HATED GBC. Now it is no longer the brunt of our jokes. It is a loved side dish at our home.

I was completely surprised by this dish. Even though I knew that if AB came up with it, then it must be good. Well, it was great. Must have been the years of mushy slop shoved down my throat by various aunts that made me suspicious. Seriously Good Eats AB!

This recipe is absolutly wonderfull!! I was a little afraid because my onions looked terrible but tasted just how they should. I doubled the mushrooms and added a half cup more half and half to compensate. The only thing I would change is the cook time on the green beans. They were still very crisp and I like them a bit softer in this dish. Other than that I couldn't stop eating it. I will definatley make this for Thanksgiving. Thanks AB for such a great recipe. It's probably alot healthier for you too.
