I made this and took to church, it was a hit. It is just like a giant blueberry muffin with a crumb topping. I could see making this up as muffins. It is not too sweet, just moist and delicious. I did not have cake flour, just sifted the flour multiple times and it worked out great. Good Eats is one of the best cooking shows I have ever seen, it gives you the science behind the recipes and with that information you can experiment more easily and have things turn out really well. It is a perfect show for beginning cooks as well as experienced cooks. Don't end the show, it is much better than some of the new shows could ever be. It is not about glamour, just GOOD EATS!

Love this cake - not too sweet, but perfect for snacking or even toasting!

This is an excellent coffee cake! If you don't have cake flour this substitute works great; blend together 1 3/4 cup AP flour to 1/4 cup cornstarch.

How could Foodnetwork be taking Good Eats off the air? Please tell us you have changed your mind. So many of the best chefs have left or been removed. Please don't retire Alton Brown from Good Eata. Please respond. Also -Love the cover of your latest cookbook Good Eats 3. You are perfect for it. -Very clever and funny, besides being a good chef and teacher. What more can you ask? Please respond. Don't retire Alton's show.

Wonderful. I saw Alton make this on TV and he squashed half the berries, so that is what I did. This cake is delicious - moist and not too sweet.

As good as it gets. I used frozen tri-berries from my freezer. Not so fond of the larger seeds in raspberries, etc. I think I will stick to blueberries next time.

Wow and yum definitely a big hit in my house this cake was moist and full of Flavor... My husband told me I could go into debt to buy the ingredients for this buckle :... I don’t keep cake flour on hand so I replaced 2 tablespoons flour with 2 tablespoons cornstarch for every cup flour and it turned out beautifully. My batter was very thick and I was worried but I pushed it into my pan and put the topping on it cooked it up and it was so good.
