This cake was superb, a real keeper! My family went blueberry picking so we also had loads of blueberries to use up. I used 4 cups of blueberries instead of 3 (we like it fruity and substituted margarine for the unsalted butter. I think the margarine made it taste better because the cake needed some extra buttery saltiness. Without it, the cake would have been too sweet for our taste. Also, I doubled the amount of ginger and sprinkled some into the topping as well. We can't get enough spices in our baked goods!
I can't stress enough the importance of using a scale to measure the ingredients in ounces (or pounds. I've noticed it really makes a difference in quality compared to when I just measure everything in metric cups. So get out your old scale and measure by weight not cups!!

I made this blueberry buckle exactly as Alton did and it was so moist and so good, I can't wait to make it again. Blueberries are almost in season in AZ and this is the first thing on my list.

The buckle was a hit. I made it for family and they gobbled it up. I did follow previous suggestions to use half nutmeg and half cinnamon for the topping. Thank you Alton Brown.

This is really really good. Alton you have done it again, My family devoured this buckle instantly. Will definitely make again. I think the cake flour really made a big difference. So fluffy and light. Total YUM

My son has many food adversions, so we made it with apples instead of blueberry's. We did not add the ginger or the nutmeg to topping. Everyone loved it. It has become a family favorite.

Made this recipe for my wife's birthday on her request, and it came out great. She can't stop talking about it. Thank you Alton.

Yes, it is that good!
I followed the recipe exactly except that I added a bit of cinnamon and nutmeg to the streusel mixture. I also used a bit more ginger than called for as I am a big spice lover.
Seriously, my men were eating this out of the pan in handfuls and mumbling, with their mouths full about how good it was, crumbs on their lips!
This would be a hit at any bake sale!
I am making one later today with blackberries, blueberries, and strawberries since I have all three on hand. I hope that turns out just as scrumptiously!
I think it will. This recipe is great!!!

This is the third AB recipe (cinnamon rolls and blueberry muffins are the others I've tried, and I must say, it's the best so far. The buckle is so tasty. I followed the advice of others and halved the amounts of ginger and nutmeg, replacing the missing halves with cinnamon.
AB ROCKS!

I forgot to read the reviews first, so I just followed the recipe, using the ginger and nutmeg. Despite the ginger, which is barely noticeable, it tastes great, even the 2nd and 3rd day. I'm pretty sure if you didn't know it was in the recipe, you wouldn't be able to taste it. But I like the idea of the cinnamon, so I'm gonna try it that way next time.
