I agree with Audrey: much better than I expected! I don't care much for celery, but as everyone else states, always need a couple stalks for a recipe, then left with a bunch to wilt in the fridge. I made the recipe vegan also, with olive oil and vegetable stock. Set the timer twice for exactly 5 minutes as per recipe, and it turns out perfectly; tender but not mush. I did not peel off the strings, and did not notice any toughness or strings at all. I don't think I'll 'crave' this recipe, but will definitely always use this from now on for 'left over' celery! SO easy, good and healthy.

This was far better than I expected. To make it vegan, I used olive oil and vegetable stock. It was fantastic. I had all this celery from a [failed] juice fast and needed some way to eat it (without peanut butter.... This was wonderful and I will definetly make it again, probably with carrots!

added fennel to the recipe; amazing! surprisingly VERY good & i'm not the biggest celery fan. I didn't potato peel the outer fibers off as suggested and i did find out why they suggest that lol.

This was fantastic! I used chicken broth, as I don't keep beef stock on hand. I'm sure it's a bit richer with beef stock. In any case, I loved it. I expected a stronger celery flavor as with raw celery, but it was more muted with the braise. I will definitely use this recipe again.

Like every one else, I buy a bunch of celery, use a rib or two then it gets lost in the back of the vegetable drawer until it goes bad and ends up in the compost bin. But this time I was determined to use it all up while it was still good. So I went in search of a celery recipe and came across this one. I used veggie broth instead of beef but otherwise followed the recipe. So simple to make, not terribly time consuming and surprisingly, very tasty and a nice texture. My hubby raved about it. This will be on our regular rotation and I will never have celery go bad again.

Easy, tasty and very surprising! Like some of the other reviews, we always have celery left over that turns to rubber, but not after finding this recipe. It really was a pleasant surprise for all of us in the family -- even my two young kids liked it.

Just finished making this to have with dinner tonight! I used homemade chicken stock instead of beef. This is a wonderful and economical side dish!

I needed a vegetable to serve with roasted chicken. My wife always makes stock from the bones of the chicken from the week before so we always have that around and I made it with that. The kids scarfed it up. My 6-old son said "Outstanding". Simple and delicious. This one's a keeper. Thank you Alton!
