I tried this because I'm always on the look out for healthier side dishes and new ways to eat my vegetables. I gave this a whirl and I was shocked to realize my celery tasted like steak!
Fantastic side dish with wonderful flavor with such minimal effort. Highly recommend.

I put celery in several recipes, but still end up throwing away some. This recipe has solved my problem...and it is really good.

I love celery but usually eat it raw or cooked with something. This makes a nice side for rich food. Goes great with ham

Braised celery is a wonderful recipe. It was very easy to prepare--even on a busy stove top. Prior to dinner, everyone laughed at me when I told them that I was making braised celery, but they happily ate their words. The braised celery side dish stole the show.

I used Swanson's organic low-sodium beef broth, and this came out great. Thanks, Alton.

Like everybody else, I could never find a use for ALL that celery whenever I wanted to make chicken pot pie or chicken soup. I hate eating celery raw, so whenever I made chicken pot pie, I would try to then make chicken soup to use up some more celery. Even then I'd have half a bunch sitting in my crisper going bad. So yes, this is a great way to get rid of that pesky celery. I ate mine with tilapia, and it went pretty well.
Just a word of advice- cut your celery in fairly uniform chunks or else half of it will be mushy while the other half is still crisp. Annoying!

Everyone is right, this is a great way to use left-over celery. When I told my husband what I was making for dinner, he was really skeptical, but he loved it and even wants me to buy celery in the future just to make this recipe.

I always fretted over the celery that went to waste once I made the tuna salad. That won't be the case in our house since finding this recipe. Good stuff and it reduces waste!

I made this with leftover celery, I don't even like celery, it's kind of useless right?
Anyways...very surprised at how savory it was. I had never braised anything and it sounds so simple, but the flavors are actually quite complex. I LOVE salt, but be careful when you add it, because I used chicken broth and it was already salty enough. Thanks, Alton, you are quite intriguing!

What a great and tasty way to use up celery, if you have some left over, or buy some specifically to make this dish! I also was surprised by how savory and good it is. Definitely a keeper. Makes an excellent side dish for meat dishes, along with mashed potatos, or really just about anything. I was also thinking that this could be a good starter for a celery soup, if you puree the braised celery in a blender and add more stock or cream. (I may have to try that someday!
