I also couldn't find the brown puffed rice, so I used a box of Kashi 7 Whole Grains. It worked really well for the recipe, and added a little variety.

I agree w/Ray that it'd be great if the nutritional content was provided, but until that happens (nudge, nudge, Alton try searching on YouTube. I quickly found one video with part of this Power Trip episode there, it showed the content for the granola bar recipe which led off the episode.

Anyone have nutritional info? That was a HUGE reason for the show. I wish it was included online!

I noticed a lot of people having issue with this--please note Alton is giving weights and volumes-- so for the rice, it should weigh 3 oz, and equal about 6 cups. Hope that helps!

I made this recipe and left out the dried fruit, because I am not a fan... Wow these were delicious. I had whole almonds so I threw those in the food processor and ground them up well, because my boyfriend does not like them. The resulting treats were delicious! I like them 5x better than regular rice crispy treats. So easy to change a few things and make a slightly healthier snack :

Okay I cheated, I used regular store brand rice crispy cereal because I could not find brown rice crispy only organic chocolate brown rice and I didn't find chocolate as an appealing rice crispy treat. I did not have flax seed oil on hand and I wasn't going to waste any money on an oil I would never use again so I used olive oil instead and a small bit of butter (next time Ill omit the butter. I used a trader joe honey that I love and I did add the dried fruit and almonds. All in all, this was delicious..and did not feel like a whole wade of fat going down my throat which is scary because I could eat the whole batch. It felt very healthy and good even without the brown rice..the toasted regular rice crispy was still good :D

Just made these and they came out great. I used the recipe from the program and after making them I decided to look it up online and read the reviews. So now I notice I should have used puffed brown rice. In the show AB comments on them being a crispy alternative to the rice crispy treats so when he said puffed rice I was thinking brown crispy rice cereal which is what I bought and made them with. My only problem with them was the 3 oz was barely 3 cups so I wasn't sure what to do ...add more rice or what. I made them as is and they came out very tasty, although I see that I should have added more crispy rice to the recipe, since they are a bit gooey. I suppose the puffed rice are lighter in weight than the crispy brown rice which accounts for the difference in volume/weight. I'll be making them again, trying puffed brown rice next time or adjusting the amounts of crispy brown rice.

Honestly, it was incredibly simple to make this recipe (especially because I set my food processor to chopping the dried fruit, but I found the finished bars a little bland. I'm thinking of using flavored marshmallows next time to up the flavor a little bit.

My daughter, however, loves them. She's already had two and I daresay I just saw her sneaking back to the kitchen. :

Has anybody noticed that 3 oz of rice is not 6 cups? Recipe comes out tasty, but thin. Does not seem like enough rice....
