Excellent smoothie! For me, we use 3/4 of the recipe. I can't be bothered with a lot of individual bags, just grab a nice mixed pineapple/papaya/mango/strawberry and blackberries for me fruit component. We use half non-fat milk, half good quality greek yogurt. The calories are the same, the texture is awesome and the healthy fat and protein are good for long term energy use. Then personally I like a pomegranate/cranberry or pomegranate/cherry (really high in potassium mix that I found in my frozen juice isle.

Thank you Alton! This is a terrific smoothie and my go to recipe for breakfast. I make it with 5 ounces of each ingredient and it makes a generous portion for me and my husband. We're satisfied and full until lunch. I use low fat vanilla soy milk instead of plain. We've also used both pomegranate juice and a blueberry/acai juice. It's great using either kind of juice.

I love the smoothie as written and make it often. I made the mistake of changing it up this morning by using strawberries, blackberries and raspberries. I'm still picking seeds out of my teeth, lol.

@Wayneg32 -- Acai is a berry from the Acai Palm. It looks a little bit like a small purple grape. The juice can usually be found in either the juice aisle or in the organic/health food section of most grocery stores. If you can't find it there, try a health food specialty store. As an alternative, I've read others have used V8 Fusion juices with this recipe with success. I've never tried substitutions myself so can't testify to the taste.

The recipe sounds great but, what is acacia grape juice and where in a grocery store can I find it? Thank you for your assistance.

Very tasty! I was expecting to taste the soy milk, which I'm not a big fan of, but to my surprise this smoothie tastes like mixed berries and is very delicious.

My husband and I are working on getting into better shape/healthier and tried this recipe this morning. Tasted great! We are also going to change out some of the fruits to help keep it interesting, and to use yogurt sometimes instead of only soy.Love Alton! Some of our fav. recipes are his shepards pie and cassorle dishes. We always check his info first!
Oh, it was about $27 for us for almost two weeks worth for two people, including the yogurt and extra frozen fruits.

I had been wondering for the longest how he lost his weight. I was so angry with myself that I missed that episode(I watch his show all the time. Now I'm angry at the network for not planning to re-air it. THANK YOU mathgeek123 for your research!.I, for one, am very grateful!
