Out of this world! I'm a man, I cook like a man, and this is a Man's dish! Women love it too! Super easy and super good!

Really enjoyed this recipe, but had to add more salt to the meat before cooking, and much more black pepper to the gravy, (about a full tablespoon more. Otherwise the gravy tasted very blan for my taste, and for a taste to match the really good Chicken Fried Steaks I've had around the country.

I can't believe how easy this was and great tasting! This is a classic family recipe that is going to rock your table. Add some sweet corn, mash potatoes, and a cold beer (I had an Amber from Crabtree Brewing Company and a smile from ear to ear will appear. One thing I changed was I added the first addition of salt and pepper after adding the flour and not before. While I was tenderizing I added more salt and pepper. Other than that, I followed the recipe. A helpful tip is grab you broiler pan and pre-heated it with the oven to 250. I cooked two pieces at a time in the oil and after the eight minutes moved them to the broiler pan. Then added the second set to the oil. When the second set time was up I opened the oven, flipped the first set over and added the second beside them. Repeat. I noticed that by doing that it really "crisped" up the steak. Again.....Alton Brown, what a great recipe! This is one I'm going to teach my boys so on a Sunday afternoon they can say "this is the way my dad made it for me"........but it all started from Brown!

Not sure if i have always been cooking the steak toolong or what, just made it a lil over an hour ago and WOW !! was the most tender CFS Ive ever had.

**to the reviewer who asked how long to 'cook in the oven' you dont cook them in the oven its merely to keep the batches warm til you have the gravy done.. what good is a hot gravy but cold steaks?? and the tempof the oven is 250 8- enjoy!

I did it, I'm only 54, and from the South, but I've always had issues with gravy and chicken fried steak!

Am planning on making this recipe today - it is supposed to rain & snow so my grand daughter and I will cook!
But. . . am confused. After steaks have been fried - they are to go into the
oven correct. What temp; how long. What liquid is to be in oven with the
steaks. Looks as if the gravy is only for after steaks complete cooking.

Hubby made this for dinner tonight & it was wonderful! I'm a Southern girl & normally I would be the one cooking this meal. But since I'm not feeling well, I printed off this recipe for hubby. I thought it would be easier than explaining how to do it & it was close to how I was taught to make it. It definitely satisfied this Southern girl!! I loved the gravy. Different than what I make, but delicious! I'd be tempted to double the gravy.

My family loved it. A very simple to make. I tweeked a little bit. I added 2 TBSP of Texas Pete Sauce to the egg mixture and again 1 tsp Texas Pete Sauce to the gravy to give it a little kick. We're from Atlanta and like a little spice.
