While I enjoy spicy foods, I think next time I'll make these with less Chipotle peppers. The whole can made them very spicy and you really needed to eat them with a bit of the turkey to "tame' it a tad. Liked the change from sugary sweet potatoes though.

These are an excellent side for grilled rib-eye steaks. While not spelled out in the recipe, I do seed the chipotle before finely chopping.

I made these to go with a beef tenderloin dinner and it was a great side dish and SO easy to make! What a great change from the usual sweet dish we get at Thanksgiving. Also, I've never steamed my potatoes before mashing them, but I'm definitely going to do this from now on. They are less stringy and it's a much better technique!

I made these to take to my sister's to go with barbecued ribs. Great combination and definite Good Eats! I baked my potatoes instead of steaming. I would warn others, if you pick really big potatoes like I did, they will take more than an hour. I think they weighed about 1.25 lbs. each so I they seemed done but needed a bit of nuking in the middle. I chopped up 1 large chipotle pepper and added 2 tsp. of adobo sauce which gave it enough heat for me. My 22 year-old brother liked them and he would not hesitate to tell me if they were awful. Thanks AB!

These are so simple and taste amazing! I increased the amount of peppers since we like the heat. My boyfriend has never liked any sweet potato recipe, but LOVES this one. Thanks Alton!

Sounds strange but it is sooooo fantastic. My favorite way to eat sweet potatoes. I use about 50% more adobo and sauce too as others have said but only if you like spicy! I bake my potatoes wrapped in foil at 450 for about 1 hr and the skin just peels right off. Enjoy!

I've been making this recipe for years now - I love the combination of the sweet and spicy. Be sure to follow his instrucion and steam vs boil the potatoes. Otherwise they will absorb too much water will not be as fluffy. I use waaaay more butter in mine too :

I love chipotles, but they really overwhelm the sweet potato (and butter flavor. I will halve -- or less -- the chipotles next time.

This sounded strange but based on reviews I decided to try it. It was great!
